Just changing the 'subject' isn't enough, several subscribers much
likely sort by 'thread' ('In-Reply-To' and 'References' headers). For
most, if not all MUAs this means you need to compose a new mail. All
mails invoked by a 'reply' option contain this headers, the only way to
get rid of those headers is to compose a new mail, something that is
done, when e.g. using the 'forward' option. However, to continue proper
quoting it's also need to copy and paste from a 'reply' mail. Some MUAs
could be customized by the user, even GUI MUAs. Claws provides
'Actions', so it is possible to simply open a 'reply' mail with an
editor and to remove the unwanted headers, or to do this by a shell
script. I'm still using the copy and paste approach.

Hey hey,
sorry for posting this here, but my mail(s) to LAD seem to get lost without
trace.
I am looking for a platform independent c++ library to read/write MIDI files.
I have seen a couple of them, but found only a few in the Arch Linux AUR (user
repositories).
So what would be a more or less common library, if possible easy to use. If
it has an influence on recommendations, I plan to use RtMidi for realtime MIDI
I/O.
Best wishes and thanks for any hints,
Jeanette

Hello all,
Source code for octofile version 0.3.0 (linux) is now available at
<http://kokkinizita.linuxaudio.org/linuxaudio/downloads/index.html>
Octofile is the A to B format converter for Core Sound's Octomic.
A-format input can be 1,2,4 or 8 audio file(s) with resp. 8,4,2
or 1 channel(s) each, 44.1, 48 or 96 kHz.
Default output is a 2nd order Ambix file (CAF, SN3D, ACN) but the
legacy .amb or non-standard formats (e.g. Ambix in a .wav file)
are possible as well.
You will require a calibration file from Core Sound of course.

Hey hey,
I have several keyboards now, which come with their built-in USB-MIDI
interface (four to be precise) and I have three more synths that need to be
connected to MIDI. For the latter I use USB-MIDI adapter cables. Alas, I also
have other USB devices, which need to be connected, not least my braille
display.
So, what would be the cheapest/best alternative to hook up all those MIDI
devices? A bigger USB-hub? Is it possible to have more than four ports on a
hub anyway?
Due to technical restrictions MIDI-chaining is no option.
All my devices have standard 5pin MIDI DIN sockets, so some kind of USB-MIDI
interface would be possible. Only two of the synth need to be connected as
inuts, all the other would only receive output (being modules).
What would be viable and inexpensive options to get all these device connected
to the computer?
Best wishes,
Jeanette

Hi list.
Are people actually using the new AVL? I was quite happy to see it resurrected but so far first impressions really are not good!
So you select the Installer option, rather than run live, and it still prompts you to log in, so have to exit, track down the manual and get the username and password. This is just silly!
It wasn't added to Grub so I had to boot into my old install and run a update-grub to even be able to load it up.
Touchpad scroll doesn't work, not even after removing the xorg-libinput driver to make sure it is using the synaptics driver which is required for most touchpad functions to work in XFCE. This basically makes it unusable!
None of the dark themes correctly change the windows decorations with the title bar always remaining light.
Doesn't prompt for locale settings on install and there is no language and locale in the Settings.
My root password works fine when issuing commands (such as apt update) in the terminal but it does not accept it as being the correct password when trying the GUI settings features such as those found in AV Linux Assistant (also tried the default one from the manual and that doesn't work either.) Tried at least 20 times!
And this is just what I've found in 10 minutes! Am I missing something or is it really a pretty much unusable distro??
Hopefully I'm just missing something or for some reason my experience is exceptional.....
Regards, Dale.
Hi all,
the German Linux online news site pro-linux.de alerted me to the fact
[1], that there are now official Linux builds for REAPER available for
download on their download page [2].
The Linux builds are still "experimental and unsupported" and plug-in
support exists only for Linux VST, not LV2 or LADSPA (yet?).
I've downloaded and tried the 64-bit version on Arch Linux and played
around with it a bit (not very much) and it looks as if it works rather
well. I tried a few Linux VSTs and wrapping an LV2 plug-in with
Carla-VST, which seemed to work well (I didn't test parameter recall,
though).
I'm curious about what experiences with REAPER for Linux other make /
have made, so let's hear it.
Chris

The wrong time zone leads to bad file metadata. When you do automated
processing with, say, Make and have created files with a future data,
stuff will not work amicably.
