How to automatically start zita-j2a/a2j with jack?

Hi all, For a sound playback system I'm putting together, based on a Raspberry Pi 3, I'm looking to have 4 channels of input and output, and to have the system to run automatically at startup. For this, I'm wondering how to (best) execute zita-a2j and zita-j2a; I've tried two methods that don't work: 1. ask Qjackctl to execute the following script after startup: sleep 5 zita-j2a -d hw:CODEC_1 2. execute this script: qjackctl (with auto-start) sleep 10 zita-j2a -d hw:CODEC_1 Executing the zita-j2a manually after Qjackctl has finished starting the jack server does work. Plagiat experimental-oriental-rap (former Sebkha) first clip Snapchat au Harem - made with free softwares only

Hi all, As some of you know, I've been playing in Sebkha-Chott for fifteen years, an experimental and avantgarde rock/metal band from France, in which we used free softwares only for recording as well as on stage. We developped some softs as well. Sebkha-Chott has ended in 2015, and by that time, we were a trio, augmented by machines (synths, samplers, loopers - many of them - FX, routing, mix, and so on). Plagiat started at the end of Sebkha-Chott, and was thought around the same setup, though it is a drum/bass/vocals duo, and is more orientated in oriental-experimental-rap. We just released our first clip, all built with free softwares only (in the AMMD studio www.ammd.net), you can check it here: https://plagiat.org/snapchat-au-harem and you can check more on http://plagiat.org (by now, it's mainly in french, but we could translate it if someone demanded it!) xjadeo compatible format from kdenlive

Hello, I'm hoping that someone on this list is an xjadeo/kdenlive expert and can help me out. I also posted in the kdenlive forums. I have not been able to find a rendering format this is compatible with xjadeo. The error xjadeo gives is Index Error. File is not suitable. I read that this has something to do with "index frames". A workaround I have is to export the project in kdenlive, and then convert it in handbrake with their "Vimeo Youtube HQ 1080p60 preset". The reason why this works seems to be the following text in the "More Settings:" in Handbrake: keyint=30:min-keyint=15:ref=1:bframes=2:b-pyramid=none I tried to create a preset in kdenlive with the above settings in Parameters. It worked when I ran a test on a short (ca. 1 minute) video, but the same error above occurs when i export a longer (ca. 1 hour) video. Does anyone have an idea of a failsafe format for xjadeo from kdenlive? Thank you! Please be constructive and provide examples instead of bad-mouthing other people's work. e.g. "Hey look, this is how we do things on Devuan - without systemd - to have jackd start as a daemon. jack persistent connections FAQ link

Hi dear list, http://jackaudio.org/faq/persistent_connections.html mentions that there is a way for persistent connections without using a GUI program. The page says about this way to do it that "The semi-automatic, script-based one is described in another FAQ." but I can't seem to find it. What could be meant here? Thanks! P

The new GUI of QjackCtl renders QjackCtl unusable

Hi, since I'm using Linux nowadays more or less only for mastering with imported audio files, I didn't notice a disastrous change of the qjackctl GUI, that seemingly already happened a while ago. The "Connect" window is replaced by a "Graph" window. Complex connections are never easy to track visually, but at least the old "Connect" GUI is clear, concise, well-structured and readable. The new "Graph" GUI is seemingly an attempt to draw virtual Pollock pictures, see https://i.imgur.com/3TFRGZF.png, even the text became unreadable. However, even without way too small text at tolerable zooming for the graph, in one colour on nearly the same colour and even without shadow effects, the way the routing is displayed by default renders qjackctl unusable. I'm aware that it is possible to move the items, I also can move my computer, synthesizers, mixing console, effects, but for good reasons I don't want to move anything from one to another place, if my intention is to restore a session and to make music. Searching for the last usable qjackctl release, I found out that the last version providing the usable "Connect" GUI is 0.5.2. Selling RME Digi 96/8 PAD

Hi there I am selling at low price an RME Digi96/8 PAD with its daughter board *AEB4-I* allowing to record 8 tracks at a time. This is a PCI card not PCI-e, and works very well under Linux systems. zita-n2j waits 10 seconds?

Hi, trying to use zita-n2j and depending on its different buffer sizes or jackd buffer sizes it prints Waiting for 10.0 seconds... and does not play back audio. This message seems undocumented in the man page and a I wonder under which conditions it arrives... Thanks for all ideas! P
