Yoshimi 1.6.1

Out now, just in time for the festive season :) For ALSA MIDI there is a search mode where Yoshimi will connect to every readable source it can find. There has been a correction to Scales note and frequency allocation terminology. The mixer panel format can now be changed from Yoshimi->Settings. The CLI has additional controls, particularly in banks and roots management. Other stuff. We've had to do an update to allow for the change in the MXML API. Dots and dashes in grids are now solid lines. They render much faster. Session/State/Config managment is now unified. More system settings can be changed by these files as Yoshimi instances start. The Advanced User Manual has been significantly updated. timidity can play midi, aplaymidi cannot thru timidity daemon

Hi, This is an Ubuntu 19.10 system. I installed timidity and timidity-daemon. When I play a midi file using timidity, it plays fine and I can hear it. However when I try to use aplaymidi, directing MIDI to the Timidity daemon, I get no sound. Checked this behaviour also with VMPK (Virtual MIDI Piano keyboard) and making connection. What gives ? How can I troubleshoot this ? regards, B

Hey hey, here's another small piece, this time rather hardware based. The sequencing has mostly been realised in Linux, using Midish/rmidish and the audio recording and mixing done in Nama. https://youtu.be/EYfmPNDPAKg This piece was born as a demonstration of a new instrument, no prizes for guessing the drum machine I got. :) Due to my current situation nothing more elaborate is possible. Yet music with much more Linux involvement and better arrangement is what I am aiming for. udev rule for running a ALSA to Jack bridge when USB device is plugged in

Hi list, I was trying to create a udev rule to start a zita-a2j ALSA to Jack bridge automatically if i plug in a specific USB device. Has anyone succeeded doing something like this? One issue is that the user is wrong, udev rules are not launched by the user account. m.

Motu 1248 firmware

Hi All! So some time has passed since this topic last came up, there is some new firmware for the Motu 1248. I'm still using version 1.2.8+1178, as this is the last version that didn't break my setup (xruns, channel shifting etc). Did anyone try the recent firmware update? How did it go? Cheers Moshe
