For ALSA MIDI there is a search mode where Yoshimi will connect to every
readable source it can find.
There has been a correction to Scales note and frequency allocation terminology.
The mixer panel format can now be changed from Yoshimi->Settings.
The CLI has additional controls, particularly in banks and roots management.
We've had to do an update to allow for the change in the MXML API.
Dots and dashes in grids are now solid lines. They render much faster.
Session/State/Config managment is now unified. More system settings can be
changed by these files as Yoshimi instances start.
The Advanced User Manual has been significantly updated.

Say you have a poem and I have a tune.
Exchange them and we can both have a poem, a tune, and a song.
This is an Ubuntu 19.10 system. I installed timidity and timidity-daemon.
When I play a midi file using timidity, it plays fine and I can hear it.
However when I try to use aplaymidi, directing MIDI to the Timidity daemon,
I get no sound. Checked this behaviour also with VMPK (Virtual MIDI Piano
keyboard) and making connection. What gives ? How can I troubleshoot this ?
I was trying to create a udev rule to start a zita-a2j ALSA to Jack
bridge automatically if i plug in a specific USB device.

So some time has passed since this topic last came up, there is some new
firmware for the Motu 1248.
I'm still using version 1.2.8+1178, as this is the last version that didn't
break my setup (xruns, channel shifting etc).
Did anyone try the recent firmware update?
How did it go?
