Hey hey, this latest one was inspired, in equal measures, by Hyper's Spoiler - soundtrack to a game or film: Cyberpunk - and French house duo Justice. This is based on some fun tutorials/pastiches: https://youtu.be/136ft7B1iOw This song uses Csound - sampled into LinuxSampler - quite extensively, it also features Yoshimi and some hardware. Fellow computer music enthusiasts, Please pardon the x-posting: On behalf of the Virginia Tech Linux Laptop Orchestra, I am pleased to announce the first official public release of the L2Ork Tweeter. *What is L2Ork Tweeter?* L2Ork Tweeter is a free and open source program inspired by the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic that has required a vast majority of the human population to practice prolonged social distancing. It is designed to bring communities together by empowering users around the world to engage in collaborative music making even over slow internet connections. It also facilitates the exploration of audio synthesis and the rich variety of sounds one can generate using the frequency modulation algorithm. It supports up to ten concurrent performers and as many additional guests or audience members as the server bandwidth allows who can observe a performance live over the internet. Each user is given an instrument with a tracker that can be populated by up to 64 loop-enabled keystrokes or notes. This intentional constraint requires users to build complexity through interaction with other users. It is in part inspired by the popular social media platform Twitter that imposes a similar design constraint of allowing only up to 280 characters per Tweet. Been a while since I posted a tune here.

This was originally composed using a Yamaha SY22 and Mk1 Roland Soundcanvas with an Acorn Archimedes computer. I transferred the MIDI file to Rosegarden then set up Yoshimi and basically rebuilt it, be with a better range of sounds, and also some new backing and counter melodies. [music] a773 - click (live glitchy, melodic modular)

Hi all! I just posted a live-in-the-studio recording of a new track "click" on my youtube channel. https://youtu.be/9YgUOOxyTNA All modular, recorded (in one take) and mixed in reaper (native linux). On a sidenote: I'm aware that reaper is not FLOSS, but it's killer. I've been running the native linux (I'm on debian) version for well over a year, it's rock steady. The last couple of months I've been running it on both a pi4 (used for recording, for instance the above, 22 tracks of hi-res flac with no hick-ups) and my laptop, switching between boxes is (almost) seamless, the only "problem" is that for some reason reaper will regenerate peak-files (used for displaying waveforms) when opening on the other platform... [Music] An orchestral waltz

Hey ey, La Parisienne: https://youtu.be/jO4MN9GiO5o Almost entirely recorded with the Sonatina Symphonic Orchestra, the free SFZ orchestral library. Only some lead lines and the tuba were doubled with an analogue sound each to slightly emphasize them. The whole piece was then reverberated with jconvolver. Stylistically, it mixes the romantic waltz with 60s dance orchestral passages. There is even a short quotation from something popular. :) Feedback as ever is welcome. Note about the youtube description: I know that something went wrong there, with the first five words being at the end. Right now I am quite frustrated with the web experience of such services.
