Does anyone know of software that can generate MIDI messages from a touchpad?
The idea would be to send CCs to a sequencer or soft synth, but being able to
send it to an external hardware device would also be very useful.

Say you have a poem and I have a tune.
Exchange them and we can both have a poem, a tune, and a song.
This is Steinway_IMIS soundfont, version 2.2.
ftp://musix.ourproject.org/pub/musix/sf2/Steinway_IMIS2.2
This version fixes the issue with loops. I hope this is the good one
and there are no more remaining major bugs.
Marcos is a little busy right now, so he asked me to make this fix. He
is thinking to make other improvements, so expect more updates soon.
I've pushed the source for guitarix.vst Linux version to github.
guitarix.vst is a VST3 wrapper for guitarix using JUCE.
It allow to load your guitarix presets into the DAW of your choice.
This is still a alpha version, it may contain bugs and/or may change in
the future
for more information visit the project page.

Hello,
Seeing the benefits of MIDI-OX with Windows, I looked for an
alternative that will run on Linux. I was able to get the Kmidimon
installed on my Ubuntu Studio 18.04, which I use for business admin
activities. (This I did as a test). Going to the production machine,
Ubuntu Studio 20.04, I found that apparently, this app cannot be
installed there.
I have searched for other app to use, and not found anything
useful. I have copied the error messages from the install attempt as a
reference. Comment is invited.

Hi, I just read about a possibly outdated advice to increase the nice
value of Xorg (currently 19 on my Debian stable system) to avoid audio
dropouts when switching desktops etc. Can anyone comment on the
usefulness or experiences with changing it (where would one change it?)?
Thanks in advance! Peter
... but apparently not.
This is very much a reflection of the times.
https://soundcloud.com/soft-sounds/world-of-sorrow
It's all Yoshimi. The main lead sound is 'Angel Harp' from my 'Companion' bank.
The very long tail is not some form of reverb, but a SubSynth sound with a
slow attack and a *very* slow release time behind the AddSynth one. The whole
sound is wrapped up with some echo and reverb.

Hey hey,
in this song I have tried a few different things. But first the links:
You Shape My Heart (single version / song only):
https://youtu.be/2cf8ZiFucIM
OGG version:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/m8375gn56ky8hdj/you_shape_my_heart.ogg
Stage version (with introductory scene):
https://youtu.be/TYQ78tHhjRM
This song, with good reason, cites the Theme for Cariad:
https://youtu.be/niUZMYIfWEI
(3:16 in the single and 5:58 in the stage version).
This song is inspired by parts of Tim Minchin's musical version of Matilda. So
it brings more drama to the table, a little more fun (I think).
The instruments featured: LinuxSampler, with a commercial piano, the VPO
(Virtual Player Orchestra), a bass from the No Budget Band (NBB) collection,
and commercial brass sounds.
setBfree for the gorgeous organ sound and DrumGizmo for the drums, ussing the
Aasmonster2 kit, with yet again different processing).
The lyrics are below, in this case they might actually help, since the song
tries to tell a story.
Best wishes,
Jeanette
*** Lyrics ***
When you first called again,
After the intervening years,
You made me sit up...
I'm all ears.
We weren't the girls we'd been.
You are a goddess to my heart.
I'd pray to you from afar:
Much too far apart.
-
Now, there was my heart alight,
Singing all my love to you,
But I couldn't tell you straight
That I love you.
[chorus]
I care for you!
(She's into you as she can be.)
You shape my heart.
You said it too.
(And you are hers, we see.)
I just want to sing...
Sing my love to you.
I was consoled with admiring you from afar;
(One eye laughing, one eye crying.)
I'd made peace with the world,
But then the world stood on its head.
You gave me a chance to declare myself.
"I suppose it's obvious," I said
"I am in love with you."
And you said: "I am too."
-
Our love pours in waterfalls
Down to our hearts 'til they overflow.
Then we will burst in bliss.
And touch and kiss!
Touch and Kiss!
[chorus]
I care for you!
(She's into you as she can be.)
You shape my heart.
You said it too.
(And you are hers, we see.)
I just want to sing...
Sing my love to you.
