do a "ps -A" in commandline ... think you need to kill jackdbus, too...

Hi,
I have a system running UbuntuStudio 18.04 and I use ffado with jack for my
firewire AF12.
When I boot the system and start things up with Qjackctl all is good.
(Qjackctl runs a script that starts Calf plugins, zita-lrx, some meters,
and connects up a variety of things the the ins/outs that ffado presents.
Most notably the output of zita-lrx forming a tri-amp system. The input to
zita-lrx coming from the Calf plugins. )
All works fine, as long as I have no occasion to hit the stop button in
Qjackctl. It runs another script that shuts down Calf, zita-lrx, and meters.
But, if I attempt to start things again, it says it can't start.
If I kill the ffado-dbus-server, then start ffado mixer (this apparently
starts the ffado-dbus-server), then open Qjackctl again it's already
running. At this point, if I run the script mentioned above, all is good
again.
Does this imply that I'm not shutting down correctly and leaving ffado in
some zombie state?
Is there a proper shutdown that won't cause this?
Guitarix release 0.38.1
Guitarix is a tube amplifier simulation for
jack (Linux), with an additional mono and a stereo effect rack.
Guitarix includes a large list of LV2 and LADSPA plugins, and support
LADSPA / LV2 plugs as well in it's racks.
The guitarix engine is designed for LIVE usage, and feature ultra fast,
glitch and click free preset switching and is full Midi and remote
controllable (the Web UI is not included in the distributed tar ball).
*This is a critical bug-fix release.*
In version 0.38.0 the state (preset) wasn't loaded correctly by the
engine on startup, this release fix that.
When you've already upgraded to 0.38.0, please consider to update again
to 0.38.1
Still the LV2 plugins coming with guitarix using a Gtkmm based UI, I'll
work on it to port them to X11 based UI's.

From the changelog:
 * fix bug #67, don't use malloc.h on FreeBSD
 * remove assert for ports count, to allow save removing of changed
LV2 plugins
 * add new option -E --hideonquit, this makes the UI experience smooth
when used as LV2 plugin
 * add support for LV2_URID_Map, LV2_URID_Unmap and LV2_OPTIONS to
allow more plugs to load
 * fix compiler warnings with gcc 8
 * add exit handler and warning when samplerate is above 96kHz
 * hide splash on error message
 * set online help to sourcforge/discussion
 * fix build against boost-1.69
 * add Russian-language translation by Valeriy Shtobbe and Olesya
Gerasimenko, many thanks!
 * update all build scripts to use faust version 2.15.11 and update
all generated faust files

Hello,
let me start by saying that "learn how to do it properly" is always a
good idea. That said:
I am looking for programs, scripts, toolchains, command-line pipes etc.
that one can use with a finished music project to further shape the
sound.
A quick google search shows many online services that offer "instant
mastering". Also EQ-Presets from the last decades come to mind,
noise-removal filters and simple plain old normalisation to get the
volume up.
I am interested to gather all our collective knowledge on that to get
some more or less automated, or at least very quick and efficient,
options to quickly make a music file better. There are plenty of good
reasons: It could be a work in progress where you want to create a low
effort preview to send to a friend. Maybe a real lack of
mixing/mastering experience and subsequently a way to get some audible
ideas. Or a plain "I normally only click export in Ardour and release,
everything more would be an improvement".
I think programs could do a reasonable job at analyzing a piece of music
and deciding what to change. Even without Deep Learning or A.I.s. Or
with them.
Yours,
hgn
