planetccrmaFC1 uses alsa ??? If yes, then run alsamixer and set "Line
In" volume and "Analog Mix" volume. Do not use Mic In as Line In.

I'm trying to follow Dave's instructions for building fst-1.6

at the section called "Building and Installing the fst System" on my
Gentoo laptop. Here's wht I'm doing:

Can anyone tell what I'm doing wrong here?
There is the one mistake in the instructions on the QuickToot page where
it seems to tell me to run fixheaders from the wrong place, but I
haven't figured out how to get past this.
I was able to build fst-1.5 quite awhile agio but of course have
forgotten the trick.

Oh yeah... Don't think of committing lightly, yesterday I tested it out
on a machine and managed to lose the ability to boot into Windows. And
in the end I couldn't even boot into Yoper as there was no option to
make a boot disk and making one manually also failed.
It's install process is very nasty and unintuitive, that part definitely
needs a lot of work.
I can't say about the rest because I haven't gotten that far yet!

what about soft synthesizer sampler automation?
this is a very important point in my opinion,
controlling filters via lfo is not the best way to do
that all the time ... automating knob movements gives
a hell lot more of control so which are the ways to do
this ???
midi cc (continous controllers) ??? in that case
anybody has a map of the controllers for some synths
(ZynAddSubFX for example ) ...?
is it possible to draw automation curves directly
inside sequencers like rosegarden which support any
kind of softsynth plugins like dssi ???
how do you guys get that automation stuff done??

make filter sweeps in specific points of my song,
which is very difficult to sync with lfos... so
parameter automation comes handy in that situations...
so, does specimen respond to midi cc parameters for
controlling the filter cutoff for example ?
also, youve been working on specimens GUI and
routing??
the independent outputs is great!!! so you can add
reverb to snare or claps without disturbing the mr
Bassdrum...
and about the GUI: it would be great if you could
change those parameter number boxes with sliders or
knobs... in fact specimen is the first sampler with
"number" boxes ive seen, i was very used to classic
circular knobs... though thats not a big issue ...
and which is the best way to record specimens audio
output... so i can render the wav audio and edit with
ardour...

I am hoping someone can help me with my awe64. I would like to use the
on-board reverb and chorus that the sound card has but I am unable to figure
out how to do this.
I have installed awesfx-0.5.0d, am using ALSA 1.0.6 on a redhat 8.0 machine.
I can load sound fonts fine using sfxload but the -r & -c options, aweset &
setfx don't seem to do anything.

recently I bought a Terratec Aureon 5.1 USB for my Thinkpad R32 (has an
Intel 82801CA-ICH3 onboard). The Intel is card 0, the Terratec card 1. I
have no problems playing some MP3s with xmms or "alsaplayer -d hw:1 -d
1024" (although I don't know why I have to use "-f 1024", I just played
with the parameters) over the Terratec. But whenever I play through jack
the sound begins to crackle, which is really annoying.

Kernel 2.4.25 with CAT_SETPCAP patch but no low latency patch.
BTW, I have no crackling sound using jack with the Intel. Hopefully
someone can help me with my problem.

Just wondering...
If there is then is it supported in Ardour or any other apps? Jamin has
something called scenes which I do not understand yet, but it's not
LADSPA it's an app.

This does sound like an issue with the lack of low latency kernel. I've
run the maudio quattro on a stock suse 9.0 without any latency problems, I
would say if you're not into kernel patching you can get by with just suse
and not have to tweek your kernel.
