Kjetil,
Tried dropping you a note directly about Groove Agent not working
but the address I had bounced. If you're up for looking at this off
list please drop me a note when you get a chance.
Thanks,
Mark
Hi all,
where can I get the lookahead_limiter_const_1906.so LADSPA plugin which
Jamin prefers? I thought it was in the SWH plugins package, but it is
not... at least not the ones I can get with Gentoo...

---Oblique Strategy # 131:
"Question the heroic approach"
Greetings:
Not wanting to be left behind by the FST/VST gravy train, I decided
I'd compile and install libfst and jack_fst. Compiling wasn't difficult,
I just followed the instructions, but I had to dig up Torben's advice to
repair aeffctx.h by adding 'struct' to a single line before jack_fst
would build. Btw, I used the sources for libfst 1.5 and jack_fst 1.2,
hopefully those are reasonably up to date, but please let me know if I
need to update. I retrieved the sources from
http://linuxaudiosystems.com/fst/.
Once the VST headers were kosher I built and installed the library and
jack_fst. I fired up jack_fst with the Kontakt demo, made the proper
audio and MIDI port connections, and the plugin responded nicely. My
Absynth plugin died the death, but the SIR reverb plugin worked very
well (I routed the output from XMMS into SIR, thanks to the xmms_jack
output plugin). Great fun.
So I'm getting started with fst and friends. I plan to get the latest
galan now and see how it works with some VST plugins. If I make decent
progress over the next few days I'll try to make time to revise the
tutorial.
Onwards and upwards...
Best,
dp
I have had problems in the past with xruns on an audiophile 24/96 when I used
'arecord'. Changing to 'ecasound' fixed that. Sounds like a software
problem.
Ken
Hello,
I read a lot a great thing about the audiophile 24/96 on the net, and i
decided to buy it to get better latency than my old sblive! I just
received the audiophile 24/96 and unfortunatly, i have a lot of XRuns
with when i run jackd.

i know nothing about firewire audio under linux, but my
(unsolicited) advice is to stay away from m-audio : their
usb devices Just Plain Don't Work under kernel 2.6, and
the company has no plans to actively support linux
themselves... bummer for me as someone who bought a
Quattro, but maybe it'll save someone else some headaches...

Hi all,
Just found out that I will be presenting a paper titled "Linux as a Mature
Digital Audio Workstation in Academic Electroacoustic Studios - Is Linux
Ready for Prime Time?" at the upcoming ICMC2004 (International Computer
Music Conference) this fall.
Although I have only 3 more days to do final editing for the camera-ready
paper :-(, if you have any ideas or thoughts for additions to the paper I
will certainly read through them and try to add them (if they are not
already included). I will be also posting a preliminary draft as soon as it
exits the realm of "ugly" ;-)
Best wishes,

Howdy folks!
The newest version of Specimen is available for immediate download from
www.gazuga.net (direct: http://www.gazuga.net/specimen-0.2.9.tar.gz).
Features include:
* A piano for graphically asigning note ranges
* A very happenin' bank building interface that uses an embedded File
Chooser (gtk+-2.4 required for this)
* LASH/LADCCA support
* Extensive repairs, most notably to the waveform display (it's alias-
free) and the panning code (it works).
* A completely revamped audio rendering system
* Sundry cleanups and fixes
Many thanks to Loki Davison, the new and official co-developer, for his
fabulous contributions to this release, and for bitch-slapping me into
getting back to work on this code (rather than piddling around with
vaporware).
Stay tuned for more...

Big thanks to all who helped me iron out the inconsistencies in my paper. I
will be sending the final draft shortly and posting the online version
during the conference this upcoming November.

Hi, I'm new here, a longtime Linux user but new to high-end Linux audio.
I am making the plunge to migrate my home studio completely to Linux. I
have a couple of VST plugins that I've been using with Cakewalk --
notably the M-Tron Mellotron softsynth that I will be sad over if I have
to leave it behind. Is there any way yet to use adapt VST plugins to
Linux audio software? Via Wine, maybe?
