This got me further but unfortunately did not entirely resolve the problem. Now I do get 24-bit capture and 16-bit playback. But only with 2 channels of each. :) If I do not set the -i 2 switch for Jack I get only silence in the output ports. With 2 i/o channels I get the correct bit depths for both so the configuration above seems to be right. The rest may well be emi-spesific. [linux-audio-user] 2 audio cards with Red Hat 9.0?

Is there a way for Red Hat 9.0 to switch between two different sound cards? I've got an ASUS A7N8X motherboard that has on-board audio. It's a Realtek ALC650 6CH with built-in HP amplifier. This is what Red Hat identifies now. I need it for DVD movies and audio CD since it can be connected to my CD-R/DVD-ROM drive. But for recording, I have an Audiofile 2496 PCI sound card. It's in the machine now, but Red Hat does not recoginize it. There doesn't seem to be any way for the CD-R/DVD-ROM drive to connect to the Audiofile 2496 PCI sound card. Is there a way for Red Hat 9.0 to recognize both at the same time, or to switch between them?

[linux-audio-user] Delta 1010LT and recording question

Hello, I'm using a Delta 1010 LT card to record from radio tuners. How does one record from all 10 inputs ? I see 8 Analog inputs and two digital. How can I use the two digital ports to record ? Do I need special adapters ? When I plugged the line-out from a audio-source to the S/0 port, I didn't see anything in envy24control . I'm using JACK and ecasound to record the individual channels to individual files. As the Delta 1010 seems capable of stereo recording , is it possible to record 20 line-ins in a mono mode ? If so, how do I split it ? I bought a couple of adapters from Radio Shack such that I can connect 2 cables to the analog-in of the delta-1010 ? Is it possible to then route the invididual channels to individual files ? hth --

[linux-audio-user] Firewire audio support?

I am in need of an external audio interface for my laptop. I want it to be firewire, and I currently use both linux and windows for audio(dual boot). I was strongly considering the M-Audio Firewire 410: http://m-audio.com/index.php?do=products.main&ID=5f35def5b4107998b111199070… <http://m-audio.com/index.php?do=products.main&ID=5f35def5b4107998b111199070…> But I don't see it on the ALSA compat. list. Anybody have any good suggestions? I want something that is compatible with Macs as well, since I think that's where I'm headed.

[linux-audio-user] Opions for ens1371 Ensonic PCI

I found one of these, put it in as there is support for this one and no support yet for my dman2044. Works fine in both windows and linux. In windows, at least, there are several options: 1. Game port or not. (This would saved me the price of Roland UM1 I bought to use with my keyboard). 2. MPU401 for synth out or external. Or .. do I simply call another instance of snd-mpu401 to the card's 330 port address? 3. Sample file -- this card uses an external wave set. I downloaded the 8meg and it claims to be GS. These sounds may be of use in addition to the sw60xg set I usually use. That card also works through mpu401. Until I get another mixer so I can keep all my outputs separate and control them, I only have one output line. I believe that in alsa, I could simply route the ensonic output to the line input of the other audio card once it is working (eager awaiting!). Right now, I can run it through its own output line or plug that into the sw60xg line in so I can use that to mix the two.

[linux-audio-user] ALSA + OSS on Red Hat 9.0 ?

Can I have both Alsa and OSS installed on Red Hat 9.0 ? Will I have to install two RH 9.0s on my hard drive, one with Alsa installed, the other with OSS installed, and boot between the two using Grub?

[linux-audio-user] rezound as jack client

Hi, I've always had trouble getting the Rezound CCRMA package to work as a jack client. When starting, it asks what alsa_pcm:playback is wanted, establishes the connection with jack but never starts the gui. root 8244 1.8 2.1 19376 19376 pts/8 SL 12:00 0:03 rezound --audio-method=jack It starts fine if the audio method isn't jack. [linux-audio-user] cd burning; multiple songs from one .wav file

Hi, On the topic of burning a CD, is it possible to define the start and stop points for many songs within one large file? I always use cdrdao and produce distinct files for each song. However, when mastering muliple songs with Ardour and JAMin a significant amount of time can be saved if the final audio product could be one file. ron __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
