Hi!
First ... thanks to Guy Daniel Clotilde for their efforts in this project.
I'm pleased to announce the new gmorgan webpage:
http://perso.wanadoo.fr/guy.clotilde/GMORGAN/index.html
Also i want to announce the version 0.10, the last alpha release, i complete
the initial idea, even adding some features not included in the initial
project.
News in 0.10
-------------------
Skin engine with some examples.
New Patterns. (First time i spend some time to do it .. and are not to bad).
Changes in initial look, help window, settings ...
Minor bugs solved.
In this momment this version is only availabel in :
http://personal.telefonica.terra.es/web/soudfontcombi/http://www.telefonica.net/web/soudfontcombi/
Now for me is time to think if i expand the capabilities of gmorgan, if i
spend my time in other project or if i go to the beach for the first time
this year ... and is 50m in front my house :-)
Anyway if i release new patterns or skins i will announce in the hlsu mailing
list.
Thanks to all, and sorry ...
Josep

ReiserFS is very fast filesystem, but there's alot more to it than just what file system you're using. You may want to consider several things: 1) what is your hdparm set to? 2) Do you have the proper support for your chipset compiled into the kernel? Just because it works doesn't mean it's set up properly. 3) Is it a brand new type of controller? The drivers for it may still be a work in progress and they may not currently function the greatest. (SATA controllers on Nvidia chipsets for instance) 4) There are other factors to consider in disk speed than RPM, for example what size cache does it have and what is it's seek time? 5) What other processes are running and what kind of load are they putting on your hard drive.
I'm babysitting the mailing lists while Joern is on vacation
until September. I've started getting a lot of "mailbox quota
exceeded" bounces for a r_bryan_kanemyrealbox.com.
Is there an established policy on what to do here?
Should I unsubscribe that address, or just put up with the
flood of bounce messages?

I think Joern just unsubscribes them.

Hello,
I was wondering if there exists something like a linux software based
real-time guitar signal processor. Something like line6's pod, but not
that big, just to put some effects (distortion, wah wah, ...) on my
sound during playing (i.e. real time).
Completely new to this stuff, so I have completely no idea whether it
exists or even is feasible (latency etc...)
thanks,
Wouter
I just installed debian/unstable on my new laptop and am eager to get ALSA running.
But it seems that the ALSA modules in unstable are for kernel 2.4.20, which is not
in unstable. The closest is 2.4.21. What to do? Would ALSA work with the modules for
kernel 2.4.20 running on 2.4.21? If not, is the only solution to install ALSA from
source?
Thanks in advance...

What operating system/libraries/etc. do you use?
We use Linux. Debian or Knoppix to be specific. Most of the code is
written in Python, except for the low-level tracking code, which is
in C and C++. We use the Pysco optimizer to speed up the Python. We
use OpenGL for graphics, and talk to the synthesizer using MIDI.

The Audiopad looks pretty impressive - but then they are MIT
students...
http://www.wired.com/news/audio/quicktime/high/audio_pad1_qt_hi.mov
Works fine in Xine with Quicktime support installed, even fullscreen.
You will need broadband to stream the video, but on a modem
connection you could use wget (it's just under a 22MB clip).

Don't know if you've all seen this already, but I don't think this
Linux-based haptic interface to a music system has been mentioned on
the list yet. I've mentioned it to Sound on Sound in case they are
interested in looking into it further.

Hello everyone!
Does anyone know a good place to put some open music online. I've recorded
some pieces and now I'm searching for a nice place to put them online. Btw,
which license should I supply, if I just want anyone to be able to download it
freely and - if desired - edit it, as long as my name still appears somewhere?
Thanks for any help and info.
Kindest regards
Julien
