[linux-audio-user] Jackstart and 2.5.x kernels

Hi, I am running 2.5.70 kernel with jackit from CVS. I got POSIX capabilities compiled in but when I try to start jackstart I get : cartman@southpark:~$ jackstart jackstart: cannot get realtime capabilities, current capabilities are: =ep cap_setpcap-ep probably running under a kernel with capabilities disabled, a suitable kernel would have printed something like "=eip" So I wonder if is there anything that I need to modify in kernel source to get this work because without --realtime alsaplayer skips sound everytime I open a new program. [linux-audio-user] mtc convert -> midi clock

Hi, Do we have any software tools for converting mtc to midiclock? I want to instruct a Korg Triton to play and it'll only respond to midiclock. [linux-audio-user] Jack doesn't start correctly?

I installed Jack from Planet-CCRMA. I have a Soundblaster Live with RH 9.0. However, Jack doesn't seem to start completely. I understand that I should be able to basically start Jack using jackd -d alsa -d hw:0 or jackstart -R -d alsa -d hw -r 44100 However, it stops at jackd -d alsa -d hw:0 loading driver .. creating alsa driver ... hw:0|1024|2|48000|swmon|rt I think it should set up channels, etc. Jack-dependent apps complain that Jack isn't working. Several times, it has done this correctly, but I can't understand why it worked then but doesn't now. As far as I can see, the ALSA drivers are loaded and working. I'm fairly new to ALSA, so I can't provide much more information than this. Could anyone offer any advice? -- Rohan Parkes <rparkes(a)email.com>

[linux-audio-user] Audigy 6.1 platinum and Linux

Hi all! Some time ago I asked for a PCI soundcard which can deal with *.sf(2) soundfonts and works on Linux. I was told "soundblaster live 512" is a good choice. But this soundcard is unknown to all resellers. (They know "soundblaster live 5.1", but I'm afraid it has no hardware MIDI synthesizer.) Now a reseller recommended "Audigy 6.1 platinum". Is there anybody who has experiences with this type of soundcard? Escpecially: Does the hardware MIDI synthesizer work on Linux? Hi, I'm trying to figure out what device I should point applications (ardour) at in order for them to see incoming mmc and to send mtc. From the 8x8 perspective; incoming data to the 8x8 Midi IN 2 should go out of all eight channels but it fails to go out channel 1. So, there's something funny going on. This is according to the indicator lights on the front of the 8x8. >From Alsa's perspective Midi IN 2 = port 1 Anyway, I've been up all nite and am tired. [linux-audio-user] Volume control with Delta44

Hello all, I've got a Delta44 and have some volume control issues with it. I'm sure it a result of me not understanding the more complicated volume and gain controls I've got. 1) Under GNU/Linux, the system sounds good and everything, but input volume is *very* touchy. envy24control has two sets of sliders that seem to affect input levels - ADC[0123] and IPGA[0123]. If I set the input levels with the ADC sliders, the IPGA sliders are automatically zero'ed. Even with ADC all the way up, levels are way to low to be useful. If I set the input level with the IPGA sliders, the ADC are automatically maxed out, but things become really touchy - it's easy for me to clip. 2) Despite all of this, the card still doesn't have the volume sensitivity it does under Windows. With Windows, a condenser mic is fully as sensitive as it should be. Under GNU/Linux, it leaves a little bit to be desired. [linux-audio-user] maestro3 ?
