mididings alternative for ubuntu studio 20.04 and newer?

Hi all, I recently migrated to ubuntu studio 20.04 and was wondering why no mididings package exists any more. When sure enough I has to do with dropping python2 and the lack of maintainers for mididings. How have you handled this ? Is there an alternative or do you reinstate python2 and build mididings ? Many Faces of the Gentoo ProAudio overlay

This question is Gentoo specific, but there isn't a single place where it would be good to ask, so, for those here who may be Gentoo users: Which ProAudio overlay should we follow these days? I know of at least three of them now! "nilburn": This one says it's "The new Gentoo ProAudio Overlay", which I've been following for awhile, but it never seems to have any changes, so I'm starting to doubt it's the one everyone is really using. Oddly, its web page is at https://gitlab.com/nilburn/proaudio, but the usage instructions on that page tell you to use the URL below instead: sync-uri = https://gitlab.com/proaudio/proaudio.git "tuxfamily": This is the old one, and I _think_ it's supposed to now be deprecated, though I'm on its listserv with no posting access (so I can't ask questions there). It seems to still get activity now and then. Is this still the active overlay? layman -a pro-audio "audio-overlay": Seems small, but with three of them around, what do I know? Maybe this one is the one...? sync-uri = https://github.com/gentoo-audio/audio-overlay.git I actually do have a working system here, and I've got all the programs I need, but I'd still like to know how these overlays all relate to eachother, and where all the action is these days. I'm so confused.

LADSPA/LV2 command line host?

Friends I am looking for a way to use the LAPSPA/LV2 plugins without the heavy weight hosts (like GuitarX or MODEP) What I am looking for is a programme Z where if I know a LV2 plugin p that takes two control |Int|s (|n|, |m|) is in library L I can invoke |$ Z L p n m| and have it show up in jack so I can control my setup from a script. There are a lot of LADSPA/LV2 hosts, none say on the packet they do this. It may be in the documentation, but it will take time to read the documentation on them all and my suspicion is that it cannot be done with current software. Does any body have any clues? Studio-controls 2.1.0 released

Studio-controls 2.1.0 has been released. https://ovenwerks.github.io/studio-controls/index.html Studio Controls is an audio utility that allows setting up a JACK based machine for every day use and features: - CPU governor adjustment - JACK real time access fixing - Multiple custom pulse/Jack bridges - Adding SUB mics as JACK clients via zita-ajbridge - Switching from ALSA firewire modules to FFADO modules - Allows JACK to auto start at session start - Allows use of pulse as JACK's front end With version 2.1, aside from many bug fixes, the changes include: - full control of all devices known to Studio Controls. OpenAV Releases Jan 2021

Hey Linux Audio *, After some time away, OpenAV is back with some updated releases! Much of the work done in these releases was in collaboration with the Linux Audio Developers and Uesrs community, thanks for your contributions! This release announce email includes ArtyFX 1.3.1, a dot release with various bugs fixed and general cleanups. A future 1.4 release will include more dramatic changes, including addressing some open issues. Find 1.3.1 here: https://github.com/openAVproductions/openAV-ArtyFX/releases/tag/release-1.3… But that's not all, Ctlra library for accessing USB hardware from music software also gets a release! Its a 0.1, there's still lots of work to do, but there's also progress being made, so doing some releases to show the actual progress is a good idea. This release contains Kontrol S5 support (including screens! :) and a bunch of simplifications, reduced dependencies in the examples, cleanups, optimizations and more! Dexed MOD UI 0.2.0

Dear all, I am pleased to announce the release of Dexed MOD UI 0.2.0. LV2 plugin host mod-host allows having a custom user interface (UIs) for LV2 plugins. Dexed MOD UI provides such an UI for the well-known LV2 plugin Dexed. It allows easy access to often used parameters. Features - Encoders for algorithm and feedback - Encoders for cutoff, resonance, and output volume - Direct access to coarse ratio and level of each operator - Operator labels serve as on/off switches and indicate carriers - Algorithm visualization (work-in-progress) - Display of name and value for the last parameter changed - Bypass switch - Supports LV2 ports of dcoredump and DISTRHO Dexed MOD UI is distributed under the GPL-3.0 License, same as mod-sdk and Dexed. Kickmess 0.2.1 - First official release

Hi! I finally released my first (VST) plugin synthesizer. Kickmess is a kick drum synthesizer. It is a port of the easy to use and good sounding Kicker plugin from LMMS to a reusable audio plugin format on Linux (VST currently). The DSP code has been ported and also changed, that means an accurate reimplementation of Kicker is out of scope. I can't guarantee that your presets will sound the same. After Version 1.0 significant changes will come with a change in the major version number. It's not just a port from LMMS to VST, but also a port from C++ to Rust. Writing DSP code in Rust is really nice and straightforward. Most work was developing the GUI, as it required lots of experimentation, testing and debugging in the graphics and window libraries.
