When you are listed explicitly in the To: or Cc: headers of a list
message, you can opt to not receive another copy from the mailing list.
Select Yes to avoid receiving copies from the mailing list; select No to
receive copies.
If the list has member personalized messages enabled, and you elect to
receive copies, every copy will have a X-Mailman-Copy: yes header added
to it.

The default is yes! :( The wording is a bit confusing, as it seems to be
favouring MUA's that don't have a List reply, 'L' as far as mutt is
concerned.
I think this seems a good option. If you switch it off I guess you need to
be ready to get a lot of duplicate mails because a lot of mail clients
don't support reply to list properly, and web-based clients like google
certainly don't.
Personally I got tired of having to manage a mountain of local mail and so
just leave it on the server.... probably bad practice but I really don't
care! With this I found the web interface far more convenient than any
standalone mail client. Also better on the move.. also:
Some think it is better netiquette to reply-all anyway:

Not certain I agree with this tho..
