If you have a commercial hardware synth, try

You gotta be kidding.
Are you suggesting to replace a Kurzweil K2661, or an Alesis Andromeda,
or a Hartmann Neuron with ZynAddSubFX? And (besides Kurz) I'm not even
mentioning the big classic workstations (Korg Triton, Roland Fantom,
Yamaha Motif).
Even my "little" Alesis Ion ("little" as in "it does 50% of what
the
Andromeda can do for 25% the price") is not replaceable by Zyn.
Now, to use Zyn _in_addition_ to a powerful hardware synth, I can
understand that. I fiddle with the Ion often, yet I still find Zyn nice
and useful. It's a pain to use a softsynth if you're used to the
convenience of a palpable interface of a hardsynth (especially if it's
an excellent design like the Ion, with immediate access to pretty much
any function on it's own separate physical knob or button), but hey, if
it makes nice sounds then it's ok.
Heck, when the Alesis Fusion gets released (any time now), I'll get it
if I can snag the money from somewhere, and that's while continuing to
use softsynths such as ZynAddSubFX. But "replace"?... Not in the
foreseeable future.
Have a look, compare features and draw your own conclusions:
