Just to dispel any hearsay. Are you sure any desktop distro really
does this? I haven't heard of anyone that skips qt3 yet.
I don't know if it counts as a desktop distro, but Gentoo has removed
qt3 from the official tree, although it's in the kde-sunset overlay for
anyone who needs it.
I've been following this how-to:
http://www.linuxized.com/2009/11/how-to-keep-your-kde-3-5-after-its-removed…
(and adjusted some of the paths for layman-1.3 using /var/lib/layman)
but I'm stuck with how I now actually get qt3 support installed.
I don't want kde-3.5 (ie anymore deprecated stuff than i need), so my
package.unmask only contains:
=x11-libs/qt-3.3.8b-r1
=x11-libs/qt-3.3.8b-r2
but how do I actually get qt3 installed via the overlay - seeing as
eix/emerge --search doesn't recognise it ?
Cheers,
James.
