I thought Avid *was* Protools and that they had no

Linux. Not that they are hostile (leave that to MOTU), but just no
interest, being aimed at Apple branded stuff.
actually, although the overall point may be accurate, for the sake of
completeness i should point out that digi/avid had products that ran
linux *internally* as much as 5 years ago, perhaps more.
