I'm still having difficulty with it. How were you able to add the
marker and give it an icon? Google thinks I was editing the map and
adding a permanent location. I put myself in a tree.

I didn't see the "Edit in Google MapMaker" the first 20 times I
looked for something like that. Not that the place I added persisted
past my edit. But, at least it let me add one. ;-)
