My university theory teacher helped write that! He was Persichetti's
student many years ago. I never checked out the book, as I never got
into 20th Century harmony, but if you say it's good I'll have to check
it out.
Once upon a time long ago I sequenced every example in that book. I
still have the MIDI files if anyone wants them.
