Instead of a LPF try a parametric EQ (notch) with a very small range
(high Q).
First do not cut, instead boost. With the boosted small frequency range
search the frequency, which affects most of the unwanted hiss, but less
of the wanted audio signal. After that don't boost anymore, cut this
very small frequency range and start optimising Q, perhaps you need to
readjust the frequency too.
PS: To search the frequency boost very much, after that don't cut
completely, try to find an appropriated damping.
