Those programs are all for Windows. What good could they possibly do
me, or anyone else on this list?
The fact is, I did a google search, and was inundated with
Windows-only and proprietary, closed-source programs. It is difficult
to narrow such a search by adding "Linux" or "UNIX" because so many
"shareware music apps" have all of this worthless navigation frill
that includes "Linux apps" on the sidebar. Also, I was
curious to see if anyone had any experience with any programs --
i.e. "this sucks, don't waste time compiling it" or "this is
unmaintained and won't compile but it's worth the effort".
A company called GVOX made a $100 hardware device that looks promising,
but they're out of business now.

Google is your friend... (Search on "audio to MIDI conversion")

Hey all,
Does anyone know of a good program that converts monophonic audio to
MIDI data? (If such a program exists for ALSA, so much the better!)
I don't know of one, but if you are adventurous it should be possible to
build one using pd with a frequency tracker, freq->note converter and midi
out. ;)
