Actually ;-) My milage varied. I had a lot of issues to begin with. I
tried moving IRQs around. Did not seem to be of any benifit. In my case
it actually made things more unstable.
I have many hours of recording time on my setup. Using both Maudio
converters, and the Tascam DM24 for i/o. And have not had any real
issues when recording. Other than the screen going to sleep :-( Thus
leaving me with a jumbled screen. But Ardour keeps on going and going
and going and going..............

I see. Being on different irqs is good.
The Dell Inspiron 8600 puts nearly everything on irq 11 (*shudder*).
So does my A31. It does not seem to bother anything.
I was able to get the slot with the HDSP on IRQ9 using the BIOS
settings..... i'd have to check it to tell you exactly what i
did....
I figure it certainly can't hurt to have them on different IRQs
and 9 is the best one for audio....
