Basically because unstable is sometimes a bit too unstable for me (and
stable is too old, or at least was a month ago...).
I don't think there will be any difference. I
have installed ubuntu
on a machine (because it was the only distro that worked on that
particular hardware out-of-the-box) and I cross-bred it with Demudi
and Debian (which has created a whole other set of conflicts and
problems). Add demudi to your apt sources and install the multimedia
kernel if you don't want the hassle of patching and compiling
yourself.
So you've had problems with demudi on ubunto? And still recommend it, why?
I would not
advise anyone to use it for anything other than just getting one's
feet wet with linux.
Let's see. The impression I get (from my LUG, for instance) is that
quite a lot of hardcore debian/gentoo users have switched, and are
praising ubunto quite a lot.
Anyways, I just ordered another HD, so I'll install ubunto on that and
see how bad it is...
