there are some audio production situations where you
use balance, not
pan, eg in mastering, where you dont (necceserily) want to mix the two
channels, you just want to change the relative lelvels.
So in that sense the track Pan control on stereo tracks in Audacity would more
properly be called Balance? I don't think it mixes the left and right
channels.
