The ingredients are relatively simple:
One lowpass filter
One LFO routed to the filter cutoff
One or Two Oscillators (I'd say having a sine or triangle an octave lower or
at the same pitch as the other oscillator would be good here).
Then just filter the oscs quite low to remove the highs and set the LFO
running fairly fast-ish!

Somehow I assumed amSynth wasn't MIDI controllable until I hit the
Config option in the menu :$
I'll take another look at it, amSynth is cool.
