Quoth Emanuel Rumpf at 2008-09-25 22:57...
Rosegarden 1.7.x uses the KDE API, version 3 and thus
depends on it.
The rosegarden team is currently working on a Qt4 only port of rosegarden.
It's a difficult and errorsome process and might still require a lot
of months for a first beta release.
Something to look forward to anyway!
Anyway. With KDE 3 set up properly (not including the
KDE desktop environment)
Rosegarden should work pretty well. (As it does here.)
...
I don't know if there is a comparable command on
gentoo.
I have done something similar - updating all dependencies. That
includes an update from KDE 3.5.7-15 to 3.5.9. I wasn't going to do the
KDE update due to the time it takes (Gentoo builds everything from
source), but I wasn't working yesterday so set the update running anyway.
Then compile rosegarden from source (is not that
hard):
cmake .
make
I've had one last go at using the Gentoo ebuild - will test it later
today or tomorrow. If it's still broken, I'll build from source.
Best luck
Thanks Emanuel!
I will report back...
Cheers
M
