To hasty on my part....
I think the Jamulus reply was top-posted (above the Choirless quote) and
then you replied, as would be customary, at the bottom without
rearranging the top-posted order. And then with the next citation, what
you actually were replying to was excised altogether.
Emacs Gnus has the W y f command for fixing reply problems typical for
Microsoft Outlook (but partly also achievable with other mail clients)
before writing a reply of your own. That includes top-posting.
If the context can be reduced to a single quoted post, the opportunity
for misquotation and misunderstanding becomes less.
