Well for once I am glad to have invested in less the cutting edge
hardware, However still trying to figure out how to get my RME
Multi-face to work on my system....

Right. It could be a problem of what RME is afraid to disclose.
If they don't want to disclose things related to the Fireface
architecture per se, then it's pretty bad - it's unlikely that they will
ever disclose anything, until that architecture becomes really obsolete.
If it's just things related to how to implement a good sound driver for
Firewire-connected cards, well then... perhaps the Firewire support in
Linux will get better and eventually RME will release the Fireface-
specific bits that will allow building a good-enough Linux driver.
But it's all guessing at this stage.
