IIUC, in a forum, all the various replies are shown forever (unless perhaps
some are deleted).
In a wiki, one can go back and edit the page. When discussion has carried on
long enough to uncover the answers someone can (and in the ideal, should) go
back, edit the page, delete the extraneous discussions and highlight the
answers clearly.
i see now ...
don't forget, though, that sticky threads on forums can serve a similar
purpose.
