IIRC Tim Goetz managed to get a decent
amp tone from LADSPA plugins, but it involved a lump of python and a lot
of messing.
Our guitarist has never used a computer at all, and besides that we need to
have a portable and robust live set-up. There are few computers available
that can be repeatedly stamped on with good results...
