Okay, I just reloaded the kid's Ardour session from last night. All
plugins were intact and just as I last saved them. I did the things that
caused the noise problem (moved a track, relocated playback cursor, etc).
No noise. Everything was fine.

Those types of noises maybe are coming from the JACK's behavioral... next
time it happeds you could try to change the JACK's latency on the fly (from
the Ardour's menu).
