I would have agreed at one point but...
Sadly this is a sign of the times. Because of
scriptkiddies, or whatever they
are that clutter all open forums with garbage, there are very few open sites
any more. It has very little to do with actually wanting you to register.
It's just the most practical way of keeping out the spam.
+1. A site I help adminster (zope.org) got hit with spam
on > 160 pages of their documentation wikis.
As a result, as of today anonymous users are no longer able to
contribute. It only takes one a***ole.
