Hi,
I am afraid that I still don't understand limits.conf file properly.
Hopefully someone can explain me some details.
I have limits.conf file like this:
@mira - rtprio 99
@mira - memlock 8000000

Novices much likely follow one of the uncountable wrong "hints" provided
by the Internet.
Others and I don't have the time to fix "pro-audio" Wikis we are
allowed to edit, they usually don't provide the nice value mistake,
but much other misinformation or completely irrelevant info, e.g.
related to pulseaudio usage for pro-audio. Paul, feel free to fix those

I guess the nice values are null and void, IOW IIUC they don't affect
anything [1], at least for cosmetical reasons remove it from your
limits.conf. If you fear that something could become unresponsive, you
could decrease "rtprio 99" to a lower value. I never did it myself, but
some users do so.
To optimize real-time performance you should start with using Rui's
script rtirq [2]. There are other things to improve real-time
capability, often setting the cpu frequency scaling governor to
performance improves a lot [3]. There are additional useful
opportunities, e.g. unbinding USB devices that share an IRQ with the
audio device could be helpful, but a lot of hints provided by the
Internet are plain nonsense. The most important thing to consider is
choosing the appropriate kernel. For some tasks it's useful to build a
rt patched kernel [4]. The so called "lowlatency" kernels provided by
Ubuntu flavours gains you more or less nothing. If you should use a
mainline kernel, simply add "threadirqs" to the boot parameters, for
syslinux it does look like e.g. this

I prefer using real-time patched kernels. If you should use external
MIDI equipment there are other things to consider, too, special jackd
settings, e.g. for jack 2 the "-X alsarawmidi" switch and that using USB
MIDI much likely does cause much more MIDI jitter compared to game port
MIDI and PCI/PCIe MIDI.

I never liked Rui's new QjackCtl GUI.
If you want to access advanced settings for Firefox, you can't access
them via the regular menu, you need to use a quasi hidden
option named "about:config".
If you want to use "about:config" you are warned and first need to
"accept the risk".
Providing an "Advanced" tab right beside the "Parameters" tab is more
an
invitation to try out those advanced parameters, than a user-friendly
pointer.
A sign "Keep off the grass!" results in more people stepping on your
lawn, than no sign at all.

When you've spent years dealing with people screwing up their JACK
installations/configurations by messing with parameters which were never
really meant to be exposed to users, you will definitely be "Advanced".
Maybe there are other ways to get there.

its man page.

I've got a 18i20 2nd Gen, -n 2 -p 128 works with my outdated Athlon
and now with my Celeron without issues. IOW even my new machine hasn't
got much horsepower.
If irqbalance should be enabled, disable it. Did you already test
different USB ports?
What's the output of

The path were rtirq is installed unfortunately isn't the same for all
distros.
/etc/init.d/rtirq status
/etc/rc.d/rtirq status
or just /usr/bin/rtirq, if so you could run
rtirq status

Actually I am playing with two different kernels which seems to be fine for
RT task and are available from repositories.
I don't want to spend time to build my own kernels ...
I have different output for rtirq status with kernel as one is only PREEMPT
not RT
Seems to be that rtirq need RT kernel to work fully.
Anyway I am getting same performance with both kernels.

No, as already pointed out, if you should use a kernel without the rt

You are giving snd_hda_ the highest prio. Don't do it. It much likely is
an onboard device you aren't using for real-time audio.

ehci (USB2) port using IRQ 19. Avoid using uhci (USB1) or the ehci

If you look at the names first then follow back along to the Bus and Device you
ideally want your audio system on its own Bus. In my case that's the native
instruments (a KA6) which is the only device on Bus 004 apart from the hub
itself.
Further down I have a keyboard and mouse both sharing Bus 001.
Depending on the quality of your laptop, it's possible they put all three USB
sockets on the same Bus, or alternatively share with some internal systems. On
my desktop there are two anonymous Intel ones, but I'm not concerned as they
are away from everything else.

RTC is for real-time clock, usually completely irrelevant for pro-audio.

For my old mobo I unbound USB ports sharing the IRQ with audio devices,
for my new mobo it's not possible, but the shared IRQ doesn't cause
noticeable effects. Usually I do not use the USB device, but the HDSPe.

Correction, this is not necessarily required for all kernels without the
rt patch. You don't need to do it when using the Ubuntu flavour
lowlatency kernels.

The fact that jackd has a --foobar option does not mean that a GUI front
end for jackd should expose it. The developers of JACK were/are
hackers/tinkerers and were egged on by other hackers/tinkerers to make as
many things possible as we could. This might be good for hackers/tinkerers
but it doesn't make it good for most users.

Open your jack1 code. Add shortened words to that effect on
each experimental command-line option you want. Push. Done.
QJackctl team then then adds an "Experimental" tab, and moves
option items to it, that you marked so, or hides them completely -
it's their decision.
Advanced tab = "Yeah, you might need these."
Experimental tab = "Hands off, fool!"

For what is it good and how it should be used?
It's under "Advanced". That means ... if you don't know don't use it, or adjust it.
I find that response surprising, unhelpful and quite wrong.
How can anyone discover whether they need to use a feature
if nobody

them what it does?
How does one become 'advanced'?

This was adequately discussed on jack-devel over the last 14 years.
It took a very long time for qjackctl to stop exposing the options that
were not intended to be "exposed" to regular users. Finally this has
happened, which is great. In the meantime, a lot of people played around
with things that are now on the "Advanced" tab, and often got into trouble
(which is partly how we gradually came to understand that they probably
weren't meant to be exposed. Cadence did a much better job of *not*
including these options from the beginning, which is one reason why people
could often get JACK to "work" when starting it there.
And yes, the man page does not explain it either, just like the man page
for most other *nix software.

I find that response surprising,

I was against the new QjackCtl GUI. The fundamental idea of this tab
design is, that users should only use the "Parameters" tab and just in
exceptional cases, experts should use the "Advanced" tab.
Don't care about this option, neither use it via QjackCtl, nor as a
command line option.
$ man jackd | grep "\-realtime" -A2 | head -14 | tail
-R, --realtime
Use realtime scheduling (default = true). This is needed for reliable
low-latency performance. On many systems, it requires jackd to run with special scheduler
and memory
allocation privileges, which may be obtained in several ways.

-r, --no-realtime
Do not use realtime scheduling.
-P, --realtime-priority int
When running --realtime, set the scheduler priority to int.

Hello !
Thank you all for reading, and for your feedback !
I feel less alone.
So :
- No sound from the motherboard's chipset. It's a long time i have kill
it in the bios - i think 10 minutes after buying the motherboard.
- No wifi chipset, or wifi usb dongle, or app using wifi on my computer.
- My Windows Manager is I3 - very simple, i like it. No fancy stuff. 0
GVFS items packages installed.
- Yes i try to remove all services that seems 'suspect' but so far...a
systemctl list-units gave me only the vital (log/mount/swap/networking
service) The only suspect i don't know what to do about are :
apt-daily.timer loaded active waiting Daily apt download activities
and
remote-fs.target loaded active active Remote File Systems
Not sure they are vital. But i see nothing about them on the journalctl
that matches the time of the XRUN - the apt-daily time occurs like 1
time every 8 hours or so.
The Card(s) are alone on they interrupt line - already manage that -

still up to date.

As far as I
understand, if I may chime in, the -rt kernel from the
Debian packages does implement several realtime patches, but not all of
them and is not a completely hard realtime kernel. You should at least
install one in parallel to your existing kernel and give it a try to
rule this possibility out and not lose time over speculations.

Instead of guessing we could find out by taking a look at the
https://tracker.debian.org/ . Actually the Debian tracker can't find
linux-rt and the suggested linux-image-rt-amd64 leads to linux-latest.
I can't find a patced kernel using the tracker's search engine.

At least boot with 'threadirqs' and use the rtirq script. Did you
upgrade the kernel? If so try downgrading or any other kernel.

The good news, you aren't banned, since your mail came through the list.
The bad news, it might be only you, at least I receive mails from the
mailing list. If you log in at
https://lists.linuxaudio.org/listinfo/linux-audio-user to the "edit
options" page, you might see a bounce score on top of the page. This is
something that could happen to everybody from time to time and will
pass by. If you shouldn't see a bounce score, log in to your email
account and take a look at the ISP's web interface. Perhaps they add new
features and enable new spam filters without asking you. If you should
have bad luck, you might need to migrate to another email address,
there could be issues only related to your ISP or more likely to your
ISP in combination with the chosen mailing list settings.
Rocketmail/Yahoo does cause issues on some mailing lists. I don't know
contacte.xyz, however, there could be changes from one to the other day.

I forgotten to mention that very high bounce scores could lead to an
action. Perhaps mail delivery was disabled, if so, you need to enabled
it.
