Hey fellas!
I was busy last several days putting together new droning recordings. While
anyone interested can check all of them from the site,
in this batch I would like to highlight these two: 152 and 153.

Making up a method to make them is very often what I do most of the time! ;)
For instance, in 153 I used petri-foo to make the texture which sounds like
low percussion. What I did was open a sample open dialog and then clicked
on various marimba samples. Petri-foo has an "auto-preview" function, so
clicking on a sample played it. I recorded it to kluppe and then duplicated
the recorded loop there and used the loop shifting technique to make the
texture evolve. Of course, passed it through some effects and stuff.
So making a tune is often what a composer like myself has to invent, rather
than notes and melodies. You come up with a method to get interesting
sounds and then observe what happens.

Reads like a happy 100th birthday John Cage kind of thing ;-)
Listening to 152 I hear an interesting aspect: some kind of well...
"lively" slowness wich is quite new to me since I use to hear stuff like
Suno)))) or Ufomammut in the drone-domain, that have a strong tendency
to sculpt expression out of darker aspects of slowness (having a track
called "Bloodswamp" may sum up what I try t say ;-) )
You, somehow manage it to sculpt expression out of harmony without
becoming kitsch, very interesting!
Anyhow I miss some bass in it but this may be an effect of my equipment
(using a pair of Tannoy Reveal midfield active 2-way monitors)

That's a funny question, since it's very likely that some people know
him.
But I agree it's one of the names that pass out of mind, as I don't
remember birthdays and death-day of celebrities.
Regarding to the mail of somebody else, wow, really, some days ago there
was John Cage's 100 birthday.
I always wonder why I know Dieter Bohlen and don't forget his name. I
never heard his music and never watched him on television.
It's very strange how popularity of celebrities does work. I suspect
more people know Metallica, than MC5. Or even odd Mickey Mouse than
likeable Donald Duck.

Thanks for the explanation. I somehow thought you were using a
synthesizer that made those kinds of sound. Your way of doing it could
produce a really wide range of sounds, though. I often come up with
improvisations sitting on top of a sustained bass note, I wonder what
some of them would sound like with a droning bass?
More sound things to play with!

Very impressive stuff as ever.
I've grown quite fond of playing your
music while working, as I find it efficiently blocks ambient noise
whilst soothing and stimulating the mind. I like droning152 especially.
Also, I am re-listening to droning133 right now and really enjoying the
faraway tribal sounding texture you created.
Again, very good, IMO this is some of the better experimental music I've
listened to.
