FWIW there are some things that laptops are not good for. If you are trying to setup for audio specific work and don't really care about sitting in your bed with the computer on your knees then you should take a look at this page before you purchase. http://www.boosthardware.com/products-.php3 Also have a look at it's sister Rua. I'm not suggesting you buy from me, but there are definite advantages to building your own system. Cost is the most obvious but also upgradability, ruggedness and DIY attitude play a part.
