No, the Windows port was a byproduct partly made possible by Qt4 :) The JACK issue was there from the beginning, I had approached them some 2 years ago to whine (thinking it was PEBKAC). It's something they don't really have a solution to, so someone can enlighten them or send in a patch.

Fluidsynth contains midi routing capabilities that allow you to filter out channels you do not want to reach the fluidsynth engine. I think this capability is also available in Qsynth but how to enable it is not very well documented in that context. Another possibility is to zero the volume for the channels that you want to be "enabled" in fluid/q-synth. Third alternative is to only map sound font instruments to the channels you want enabled. You can use one fluidsynth-dssi plugin per track, and the track properties lets you configure the input/output settings including the received MIDI channel(s). Switching between tracks can automatically route the MIDI input to the active track. For me this has worked out quite well, it'll also save the whole setup easily.
