Hi all,
I have a "M-Audio MidiSport USB 2x2" that I can see in qjackctl . I
have a file X999_OS138.mid that I need to transfer from midi out of
the midisport to the midi in of the jomox. How can I do that? Jomox
only has a Windows and Mac program to do it, and furthermore, they
list the midi sport as having problems with their program. I can put
the jomox in a state where its ready for the transfer.

You can try Simple Sysexxer [1]. It can send and receive data to/from
MIDI devices. It is pretty simple and it worked for me (I used it to get
and send sysex dumps from and to Behringer FCB1010).

Is this a SYSEX file or a simple MIDI file (sequence) that
you want to play?
If SYSEX... then "what Igor said."
If SMF... then the alsa program aplaymidi is an option.

There's several boxes called "MidiSport" -- and some will
give you trouble while others work fine. Rule of thumb is
that the "Uno" ones are problematic... but the 1x1, 2x2, and
4x4 models are much more reliable.

Is not a sysex file, best I can tell. The instruction for their
windows program at:

says:
"It recognizes the Jomox device and kind of dump (OS/presets) after
loading the *.mid file. You just select the midi out port
and put the device into reception mode and start the bulk dump on the utility."

I can put the jomox in the mode that its ready for the transfer.
However, SimpleSysexxer is giving me this error, shown with my jack
connections:

Geez. What a pain.
Use aplaymidi. Set your device to receive. Then open up a
terminal (command-line) and:
$ aplaymidi --list
Port Client name Port name
14:0 Midi Through Midi Through Port-0
20:0 MidiSport 1x1 MidiSport 1x1 MIDI 1
$ aplaymidi -p20:0 X999_OS138.MID
Note that 20:0 matched the MidiSport port I was using.
