Cal, the lead developer of Yoshimi, passed away on July 2 in Victoria, Australia.

While this was not unexpected, we're all very sad to see him go.
I'm doubt that his family has any idea what he meant to us. If anyone has an idea on
how we can show our appreciation, please share it.

His work on Yoshimi was and still is very valuable to the Linuxaudio
community.

That is very sad news.
Strange how we are a family of sorts without really knowing one another,
and hearing that someone passed away, with whom only had the fleetest of
contacts, but whose code one used, can bring sadness.

It's strange indeed. A good thing about free software is that his
efforts will be continued by others, while had he worked on a closed
source project it would've eventually be forgotten.

Bye Cal, you will be missed. Not only for the tremendous effort you did
for the community with Yoshimi, but also as the part of the community
that you were: always listening, always willing to help out, always
wondering about new possibilities, always friendly and patient.

Thanks for letting us know Gabriel - Will pretty much suspected as
much on this list didn't he? It is very sad news and I hear this the
day after hearing about Amy Winehouse too of course, which was also no
big surprise but was cause for notice and best wishes to their
respective friends and families.
I very much appreciate all Cal did within Yoshimi to enhance zyn and
the Linux audio ecosystem - he was a truly lovely guy with a great
sense of humour - even when he was clearly under much physical
suffering and generally not well-to-do - and always did his best to
help.
You will be much missed Cal!

Bummer in Victoria, Australia! And for us users of Yoshimi. I just put
together a very basic tune called "A Simple Piper's Hymn" using it a few
weeks ago, need to finish that and put it up somewhere. The selection of
sounds available in Heaven has just been significantly improved!
