Hi all-knowing community :-)
I am about to do a mix of a bass recording which we previously have done
using a big muff pi bass pedal.
This time around is has been done direct in so the input is a clean bass
signal.
I am not in a position where I can do a re-amping session so I am in
search of a pure plugin solution that can get me as close to the big
muff sound as possible.

I am thinking that perhaps one of the guitarix lv2's can be of assistance?
I not at all experienced in mixing guitars/basses so any information
that can help me find a usable plugin will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Bent,
Guitarix has quite some Fuzzes now, also a Big Muff styled one. You
might also want to check out the MOD Muff plugins:
https://github.com/moddevices/mod-distortion
And maybe the ArtyFX Driva plugin or the Stompbox plugin of the rkrlv2
suite.
KXStudio has packages available though I don't see Driva.
Haven't tried the plugins with a bass though and didn't try them with a
guitar in a re-amping setup but they're should be something in there.

ArtyFX Driva is only available in the (still WIP) Avtk branch:

Although its 95% ready, there is still a little to be done, so I haven't
released it just yet.
It can be built and used though, so if anybody feels like testing, that's

You are right about that. It sounds "thin" when applied to the bass signal.
