Hi everyone,
I'm proud to announce the release of :
Tapeutape 0.0.5:
better gui, play modes, command-line menu, lash support and bug fixes
(thanks Nedko)
Tapeutape is a midi-controlled virtual sampler.It is highly
configurable,lets you create instruments/kits/setups and is designed for
live performance.It works on Gnu/Linux with the jack sound server.
There's a command-line and a gui version.
It can be found at http://www.hitmuri.com/Tapeutape

Interesting stuff. Have not really tried such samplers and slicers yet but
will. I also have freewheeling which is in this realm. Do not really
understand it.

would better (and more in standard *nix practice) go to /usr/local/bin.

in and out "tranches".
However, no MIDI clients (not really clients at this stage but connections can
be made with or without jack running!) show up. This means I have no way of
getting MIDI into tranches with the card setup I have.
Do you mean you'd like
to be able to set the midi input connections
directly in Tranches GUI ? (usually i use qjackctl , this is what i
didn't think of that)

Hello,
I am trying Tapeutape, and I like this soft, it is very powerful. Using it
with seq24 is a good way for making live performances.
A GUI mode for configuring our layer, and drumkit should be very very
interresanting. perhaps in the next realeses?
I have got some question too :
is there anyway configuring "Cut" and "By" to cut a sound with another
sound
: for example : the Open Hit Hat with the Closed Hit Hat ?

Yes the configuration GUI will be in the next release, and the cut/by
between instruments of a kit too.
For now you can for example have a hi-hat instrument with the closed
hi-hat sample velocities ranging from 0 to 100 and the opened hi-hat
sample ranging from 101 to 127 and cut=1 and by=1. This way , when you
play a note with a velocity of 127 (opened hi-hat) and then the same
note with a velocity of 100 (closed hi-hat) , the first sound will be
stopped.
So it would look like this

seq24/jack-rack) just now. prep time about 30 mins.

tapeu2tape stereo: i'm afraid i may be doing something wrong here, but, i
can't seem to get any output in the -L channels. i just end up connecting -R
to both alsa L/R inputs. any ideas?
tranchess doesn't crash on transport stop anymore. i don't know why it did
when i first started using it, but i can't reproduce this behavior (which is
good!). tapeutape and tranches both crash when i save a lash session, tho.

Could you send me your *.tap file ? Perhaps I could look for you if
something is wrong ?
I joint you the *.tap file I have created, perhpas it will give you an
answer.
But my output are different :
each sample are routing in differents outputs : kicks with kicks, snares
with snares, hit hat with hit hat ...

Mysth-R helped me, and recommended putting each kit in its own setup, which
seemed to work. http://r2h.org/rtjc.tap is the tap fie.
and as for lash, i'm not sure about the proper directory. i'm using
glashctl, so i start the session, load seq24, then tapeutape (or tranches),
right-click glashctl and hit save, and that's when tapeutape segfaults. so i
assume the directories are proper, cause the other programs save to them (in
this case, i guess the default: /home/audio-project/project-n)
i'm running tapeutape from a terminal, in the directory that contains the
tap file. does that make a difference? hold on i try. well, i tried moving
the lash directory (via the glashctl's "move directory" menuitem) into the
directory with the tap file, where i ran tapeutape rtjc.tap, and then
clicked save session and it still pooped out on me.
how do u run ur lash?

tapeu2tape stereo: i'm afraid i may be doing something wrong here, but,
i can't seem to get any output in the -L channels. i just end up connecting
-R to both alsa L/R inputs. any ideas?

Yeah it's because in a setup only the selected kit is playing.
He's right, if you want two kits to play at the same time, you can make
two setups or you could also have a <kit name="808/909"> with all the
instruments in it ;) .

I run it exactly like you ;)
Ok so it seems to come from Tapeutape and Tranches, i'll have a look but
actually all they do is writing the .tap file to the lash project directory.
