pd~convention04 - Call for works
The pd~stammtisch graz is organizing the first pd~convention. It will
take place in Graz in the week from 27th of September until 3rd of
October 2004. We aim to program a wide spectrum of presentations
regarding pure-data, the OpenSource/FreeSoftware realtime computer music
system by Miller S. Puckette. The program will include technical talks,
workshops with various levels of expertise and a number of artistic
works like concerts, installations and interventions. The pd~convention
is a cooperation between the pd~stammtisch graz, Medienkunstlabor, ESC,
mur.at and the iem.
CALL FOR ART-INSTALLATIONS
We are looking for art installations that are realized with pure-data
and/or within the context of pure-data. Therefore, this call for
installations specially targets on the pdcommunity. Since most
communication of the pd-community and development of pure-data is done
off-site (via internet technologies), we would like submitted works to
be installable without the need for the artist(s) to be on-site. Thus,
works should be technically simple.
the place
The installations will be located in and outside of the
Medienkunstlabor, which is situated in the Kunsthaus Graz. A tramway
station is directly in front of the Medienkunstlabor. Therefore, this
place is highly frequented by both residents and visitors to the
Kunsthaus that are potentially interested in art.
Indoors installations will be accessible by passengers during daytime,
outdoors installations are permanently accessible.
requirements
platform: pure-data
media: audio, video, installation,...
genre: any
audience: The primary target group of the installations are the ordinary
passers-by that do not necessarily have any knowledge of art
what we can offer
computers: Several (5-8) PCs running on linux, all of them with a
broadband connection to the internet.
sound: Each PC is equipped with 2 channel consumer audio-card
video: 1-2 video beams are available, driven by hardware accelerated
graphics cards
If you need something special, please send an email to pd-convention(a)iem.at.
conditions
deadline: 31st of August 2004, 23:59 GMT
language: Submittance can be in German or English
mailing costs: Mailing costs are borne by the entrant and will not be
returned.
travel expenses: Travel expenses are borne by the entrant. Works that do
not require the artist(s) to come to graz are preferred.
submissions
If you are interested, please submit your proposal/material before 31st
of August 2004 either via email to pd-convention(a)iem.at or via postal
services to

ciaoTJ
Hi everyone,
It's been a while, although this time there's not much. Just minor fixes,
nothing very outstanding. However here it is, a new public release for
QjackCtl, the little Qt (cutie:) application to control the JACK sound
server daemon, specific for the Linux Audio Desktop infrastructure.
Check it out from the usual place:
http://qjackctl.sourceforge.net
>From the changelog:
- Patchbay socket dialog client and plug list option items are now
properly escaped as regular expressions.
- JACK callbacks are now internally mapped to QCustomeEvent's instead
of using the traditional pipe notifications.
- The system tray popup menu is now featured as a context menu on the
main application window too.
- The reset status option is now included in the system tray popup menu.
- Server stop command button now enabled during client startup interval;
this makes it possible to stop the server just in case the client
can't be activated for any reason.
- Top level sub-windows are now always raised and set with active focus
when shown to visibility.
Hope you enjoy.
