hi everyone!
i have just accepted a commercial advertisement on linux-audio-announce,
because i considered it perfectly on topic and relevant to the linux
audio community.
however, some of you may disagree.
to let everyone decide for themselves, i'm asking advertisers to include
the string [adv] or [ADV] in their subject so that subscribers who do
not wish to see commercial ads can easily filter them out.
feedback to my private address if possible, i'll summarize to the list.
regards,
jörn

Greetings All,
Two items which may be of interest to those who have interest in convolution
reverb and/or physical modelling for audio:
1) The following C++ sample and impulse response function generators are now
available with PyGtk GUI:
Boxster version 0.0.2 --- 3-D parallelepipeds (rooms)
Drumster version 0.0.2 --- 2-D membranes (rectangular drum heads)
Hammster version 0.0.2 --- 1-D hammered strings (e.g. piano strings)
Pluckster version 0.0.2 --- 1-D plucked strings (e.g. guitar)
The sample and IR generation are based on Green's function techniques. (Green's
functions are used extensively in mathematical physics.)
---------------------------
2) The following program can be used to convolve IR's generated by the programs
above with WAV files and to perform tasks related to convolution reverb:
Mixster version 0.0.1 --- simple mixer and convolution reverb workbench
Please see:
http://home.earthlink.net/~davidrclark
for links to detailed announcements. Please note that these are prototype
programs, not production codes. I have recently developed these task-oriented
versions from my research class libraries.
Thank you for your attention.
Regards to all,
Dave Clark

Hello,
Glame 2.0.0 has been released :
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=1627http://glame.sourceforge.net/

- Improvement in the wavedit interface, with new buttons for multitrack editing.
- New exporting possibilities: OggVorbis and mp3.
- Bugfixes.
GLAME depends on Audiofile, Guile, and the core Gnome and Gtk (at least 2.4)
libs.
Optional (but useful) dependencies:
- Glade
- Mad (mp3 import)
- Lame (mp3 export)
- OggVorbis (oggvorbis import and export)
Please report problems via Sourceforge bugtracker or one of the Glame
mailing list .
Thanks for testing,

CERES
*****
"Ceres is a simple program for displaying sonograms and for sound effects
in the frequency domain."
Except that its not that simple anymore...
0.41 -> 0.42
-------------
-Actually apply the fix for the (horrible) bug that caused
ceres to crash on newer linux distributions. (Sorry!)
MAMMUT
******
Mammut will FFT your sound in one single gigantic analysis (no windows).
These spectral data, where the development in time is incorporated in
mysterious ways, may then be transformed by different algorithms prior to
resynthesis. An interesting aspect of Mammut is its completely
non-intuitive sound transformation approach.
0.17 -> 0.18
------------
-Fixed a (horrible) bug that caused mammut to crash on newer linux
distributions.
-Simplified the install process a lot. pygtk1, libglade and sndlib
is now included in the distribution and is/can be installed
automatically if needed.
-Added undo for load&multiply

"Ceres is a simple program for displaying sonograms and for sound effects

Except that its not that simple anymore...
0.40 -> 0.41
-------------
-Fixed a (horrible) bug that caused ceres to crash on newer linux
distributions.
-Simplified the install process a lot. pygtk1, libglade and sndlib
is now included in the distribution and is/can be installed
automatically if needed.
-Connect to jack-server right after starting up ceres, not right
before playing for the first time.

SND-LS
******
Snd-ls is a distribution of the sound editor Snd. Its target is
people that don't know scheme very well, and don't want
to spend too much time configuring Snd. It can also serve
as a quick introduction to Snd and how it can be set up.
0.9.1.2 -> 0.9.1.5:
-------------------
-Made the apply-button always apply to selection if there is a selection.
-Removed some options from the edit-menu that interfered with the way
snd_conffile works.
-Made the insert-option in the edit-menu insert monofiles into the
currently selected channel.
-Added libxt-dev to the list of required packages. (Thanks to robin)
-Made mono-files play in both left and right channel when using Jack.
-Short fix for the nodeline-class.
