Snd-ls v0.9.4.3
---------------
Released 30.6.2005
About
-----
Snd-ls is a distribution of the sound editor Snd. Its target is
people that don't know scheme very well, and don't want
to spend too much time configuring Snd. It can also serve
as a quick introduction to Snd and how it can be set up.
Changes from 0.9.3.0 to 0.9.4.3
--------------------------------
-Upgraded various rt-stuff.
-Upgraded various rt-stuff++
-Removed jack_set_server_dir guile-binding from rt-engine.scm, because its
removed from the newer versions of jack.
-Updated SND to v7.14 from 19.6.2005. Many important changes.

2.
Mammut V0.20
------------
Mammut will FFT your sound in one single gigantic analysis (no windows).
These spectral data, where the development in time is incorporated in
mysterious ways, may then be transformed by different algorithms prior to
resynthesis. An interesting aspect of Mammut is its completely
non-intuitive sound transformation approach.
Changes 0.18 -> 0.20
--------------------
-Fixed a bug in the Makefile caused by a fix in the previous release.
-Fixed some bugs in the Makefile.

3.
Ceres V0.43
-----------
Ceres is an advanced program for displaying sonograms and for sound
effects in the frequency domain. And more.
Changes 0.42 -> 0.43
--------------------
-Fixed some bugs in the Makefile

Snd RT-extension documentation
-------------------------------
The realtime extension for SND makes it possible to do signal processing
in realtime using guile and a special scheme-like compiled language.
It has many features, as jack-support, CLM, a realtime scheduler,
a compiler, busses, dynamic patching, shared variables, ladspa and more.
It can also be made to work with Common Music.

Hello,
Available now from http://wcnt.sourceforge.net is the latest release of Wav
Composer Not Toilet, wcnt-1.2.
wcnt is a not-real-time modular audio synth, sequencer, and sampler. it
reads plain text files containing definitions of modules and data to then
create .wav file(s) of the described sounds.
new in wcnt-1.2 (on the plus side:)
* time_map
* tempo changes are now relative to tempo specified in header.
* slightly more accurate time keeping.
* adsr
* release section cannot be triggered more than once without
an intervening note_on.
* new parameter min_time. minimum time before release section
can be activated by note_off.
* new parameter max_sustain_time.
* new parameter release_is_ratio applies to release section only.
* sequencer
* out_start_trig output works.
* slightly more accurate time keeping.
* new and improved note slide handling does not forget notes.
* osc_clock
* new input in_play_state
* new parameter response_time
* when in_play_state recieves ON, it takes response_time
milliseconds to reach new frequency.
* trigger
* received code revision
* logic_trigger
* new function xornot, only output trigger1, but only if
trigger2 has not triggered at same time.
* new parameter - precision. how many samples apart trigger1
and trigger2 can trigger, and still be treated as
occurring simultaneously.
* wait_trig
* recieved revision of wait code.
* count parameter added specifies how many times it may trigger
before returning to its wait state.
* new output - out_wait_state.
* sync_clock
* new module which acts like an LFO but keeps in sync with
tempo from time_map.
* frequency modulation with snap_to parameter.
* synth_file_reader
* new data object which can be used to read contents of another
.wc file. (it's not new, but it's data object-ness is).
* can exclude or include modules and data objects specified
in two lists.
* param_editor
* new data object which can edit top-level parameters of
modules and data objects.
* uses new parameter types which allow editing to be done
in same way as module or data object definition itself.
* input_editor
* new data object which can re-connect module inputs and
outputs.
* uses new parameter types which allow connections to be made
in same way as module definition itself.
* wcnt_trigger
* new module with a single in_trig input and does nothing at
all.
* trig_switcher
* new module which contains a list of wcnt_trigger modules and
outputs a trigger from one of the wcnt_triggers.
* in_trig input causes a switch from one wcnt_trigger to another.
Not new since all time :(on the minus side)
* filters still leave something to be desired.
* still dogged with aliasing problems.
* can only deal with 16 bit WAV format.
Sylater,
_jwm.

Hi all,
I've just released my Faust module for the Q programming language. A
realtime synth application based on this module, QFSynth, is also available.
Faust (http://faudiostream.sf.net) is Grame's functional DSP programming
language. Q (http://q-lang.sf.net) is a general-purpose functional
programming language with an extensive collection of multimedia-related
modules. If you're a developer interested in modern FP tools for
multimedia and DSP programming, you should definitely take a look. ;-)
Cheers,
Albert

Hi,
QjackCtl 0.2.17 update release is out.
Directly from the change log:
- Systemic I/O Latency settings are now featured for the alsa, oss and
coreaudio backends, letting you specify the known latency of external
hardware for client aware compensation purposes (thanks to Wolfgang Woehl,
for the reminder).
- Update on last backstage changes to the coreaudio backend options (due
to Stéphane Letz. Thanks).
As always, you can grab the source tarball from the usual place:
http://qjackctl.sourceforge.net/http://sourceforge.net/projects/qjackctl
Enjoy!

QjackCtl 0.2.16 is finally out!
After laying around for a long time in the backyard (aka CVS:), the Qt
front-end to the one-of-a-kind JACK audio server daemon is finally made
public. Rejoyce!
As one can read from the changelog:
- ALSA sequencer client/port name changes are now properly detected on the
MIDI connections widget (as noted by Chris Cannam. Thanks).
- Long overdue transport buttons (rewind, backward and forward) finally
landed onto the main control window, at last :).
- Duplication (copy) of patchbay socket items was added.
- Do not ever try to start the JACK server if there's one already found
running, on which case the client-only mode of operation is then activated
(as kindly suggested by Orm Finnendahl, thanks).
- After several Mac OS X user requests, ALSA/MIDI sequencer support is now
an option, otherwise detected at configure time and conditionally compiled
in if, and only if, ALSA is found available (which has been a primordial
assumption on Linux systems:). Ah, and that just makes for the blind
inclusion of another backend driver option: coreaudio.
- Actual OSS device selection menu now featured on setup dialog; these
adds to the device selection button menus for the OSS driver settings.
- Delayed geometry setup of windows upon startup was added as an optional
workaround to subtle problems due to window decoration information not
being available at window creation time on some window managers (as patch
proposed by Dirk Jagdmann. Thanks).
- Fixed some minor but rather old bug that was quitting the application
abruptly, when one switches off the system tray icon while the main
application widget is hidden.
- Cancel is now an option when creating a new patchbay definition.
- Context menus are finally littered with icons.
- Minor configure and Makefile install fixes, as Debian and Mac OS X
specialties. Also, install does the right thing with target file modes
(thanks to Matt Flax and Ebrahim Mayat, for pointing these out).
You can get away with it from the usual place:
http://qjackctl.sourceforge.net/http://sourceforge.net/projects/qjackctl
Enjoy!

Hello all,
64 Studio Ltd. is a company developing a collection of software for
digital content creation on x86_64 hardware (that's AMD's 64-bit CPUs
and Intel's EM64T chips). It's based on the pure 64 port of Debian
GNU/Linux, but with a specialised package selection and lots of other
customisations.
Like to see the work in progress? You can now download an iso image
for version 0.2.0 alpha. This will install Debian Pure 64 with X.org,
the Gnome desktop and an initial selection of creative applications
including music, graphics and publishing tools.
http://images.64studio.com/
Please note that there is no low-latency kernel package included in
this version, and that this release is provided for testing only.
Problems in this release include wrongly configured apt sources,
useful packages missing or not installed by default, confusing menus
and assorted warnings during installation. There are probably plenty
of other things wrong with it as well, which is why we're calling
this an alpha release. But it does actually install and run on our
Opteron test hardware, so it's a start : )
Needless to say, anyone who is interested in getting involved with the
64 Studio project is most welcome. Our aim is to create a
distribution with full (but completely optional) commercial support,
which will generate revenue to pay free software developers.
Cheers!
Daniel
