[linux-audio-announce] Rivendell v0.9.53

I'm pleased to announce the release of Rivendell-0.9.53. Rivendell is a fully copy-lefted audio automation system targeted for use in professional broadcast environments. It is now possible to configure a single record 'window' in RDCatch and configure multiple shorter recordings within that window to be started by means of GPI closures. Asynchronous Macro Carts. It's now possible to designate a macro cart as to be executed 'Asynchronously', meaning that, when executed within a log in RDAirPlay, any Sleep ['SP'] RMLs contained within the cart will not delay subsequent log events, but *will* delay subsequent RML statements within the cart itself. This can be useful for achieving various special effects, such as starting a music bed and then playing a seperately carted dry voiceover on top of it. RDLibrary Enhancements. RDLibrary will now give explicit warning about various out-of-parameter conditions (like audio carts that contain no audio). It's now also possible to specify the 'Forced Length' of a cart (for timescaling purposes) without obscuring the actual average length of the cart. Many Bugfixes. Especially with regard to RDCatch, MPEG encoding and electronic log reconciliation (ELR) functionality. See the ChangeLog for details. Library Versions: This version requires that, at a minimum, libradio-0.94.0 and librhpi-0.94.4 be installed. Om 0.2.0 is out (after far too long) Om is a realtime OSC controlled modular synthesizer (effects processor, etc, etc) for Jack systems with LADSPA and/or DSSI plugins. This release is dramatically improved from the previous (0.1.1). ALSA MIDI Kommander is a DCOP [1] interface exposing many ALSA Sequencer [2] features for shell scripts, Kommander scripts [3], or KDE programs requiring MIDI Sequencer services. A few MIDI utilities have been developed with this tool, which can be used both as programming examples and as real work tools. The main program, "kaseq" is a single executable, used as a DCOP service program. It runs as a daemon, allowing only a single running instance, and providing a system tray icon to give visual feedback for MIDI activity, and a way to control the program execution itself. It depends on KDE 3.x and the Qt library. What is remix.linux? remix.linux provides a place for subscribers of the Linux Audio Users list to share/remix/extend/master each others work, with the freedoms offered by Creative Commons licenses. It is inspired by ccMixter and powered by ccHost. While the emphasis is on samples and remixing, anyone who doesn't have access to a webserver to put their original songs may upload complete songs here (though you are encouraged to make the seperate tracks available, too). What Can I Do on remix.linux? You can upload samples, songs, accapellas, spoken-word, remixes, midi files, flac, ogg, mp3, your sample of a duck-fart, etc, etc ... so long as they were created/recorded with a Linux Audio Application. You can rate submissions, review them, remix them, explain them, ignore them. You can stream all submissions/artists/tags, or subscribe to podcast feeds of them. How Do I Use remix.linux? Hello LADs, LASH (formerly LADCCA) is the LASH Audio Session Handler. It allows you to save, restore, and distribute sessions consisting of many interconnected Jack/Alsa applications. LASH was written by Bob Ham, but I have taken over as maintainer as of this release. Changes: * Bugfixes (most importantly session now restore reliably) * Complete name change (see API notes below) * A new GTK control panel client (no more command line!) * Various updates, bitrot removal, GCC4 fixes, etc More information, downloads, screenshot, CVS, etc, available at: http://www.nongnu.org/lash Developers: If you have an app that supported LADCCA, the API has been broken by this release (sorry). New features includes a midi thru KAction (midi thru is easily accessed) follow song, copy & paste, .mid export and input selection. Description of KMiditracker, from the web page: ---------------------------------------------- KMidiTracker is a MIDI Step Sequencer. A Step Sequencer is a sequencer in witch the MIDI notes are delivered at regular time intervals, usually a 1/4th of a quarter note. As such it is not as versatile as a regular sequencer as [Rosegarden], but allows very easy creation of loops and sequences. The use of the [MIDI Clock] allows several sequencers communicate clock events, so it is possible to join several sequencers, with diverse focus, to make one single synchronized composition. KMidiTracker is similar to trackers like [FastTracker], [ScreamTracker] or [Buzz], but only the Tracker; no actual sound is emmited. Only MIDI signals. The Tracker divides songs in tracks, each one have several patterns that are arranged as sequences. Time advance in steps that depend on tempo, and in each time step a new MIDI note may sound, or a controller event may be sent. You can have several columns of notes and/or controllers for each pattern, and pattern length is configurable.
