Hello all,
64 Studio is developing a collection of native software for digital
content creation on x86_64 hardware (that's AMD's 64-bit CPUs and
Intel's EM64T chips). It's based on the pure 64 port of Debian
GNU/Linux, but with a specialised package selection and lots of other
customisations.
A bugfix release of 64 Studio is now available for download. Version
0.9.1 is the second beta release, with the following significant fixes
since 0.9.0:
* AMD64 install image size reduced to fit on CD-R (a DVD burner is no
longer required to make install discs)
* Alternative i386 'Old Skool' edition now available - works on
everything from a Via C3 processor upwards, just more slowly :-) If you
are using a 32-bit machine, 256MB RAM is a practical minimum, 512MB or
more is better.
* The snd_seq module now loads automatically at boot time by default
As always, please let us know about any bugs you find (or feature
requests) on the 64studio-devel mailing list:

Cheers!

On behalf of the Rivendell development team, I'm pleased to announce the
immediate release of Rivendell v0.9.70. Rivendell is a full-featured radio
automation system targeted for use in professional broadcast environments. It
is available under the GNU General Public License. From the NEWS file:
*** snip snip ***
Changes:
PAM Authentication Module. Allows the Rivendell user/group
assignment to be dynamically managed by PAM-based login systems.
Play-While-Recording/Play-While-Importing Capability. It is now
possible to update cut audio content even while the selfsame cut is
playing out in RDAirPlay. (This capability also requires that
the libradio and librhpi packages be upgraded to the indicated
versions in order to function properly).
BugFixes, especially concerning voicetracking, RDLogManager log
generation and automated downloads in RDCatch. See the ChangeLog
for details.
Library Versions:
This version requires that, at a minimum, libradio-0.97.2 and
librhpi-0.94.7 be installed. If installing from RPM, the version of
the currently installed libraries can be determined by doing:
rpm -q libradio
rpm -q librhpi
Database Update:
As always, be sure to run RDAdmin immediately after
upgrading to allow any necessary changes to the database schema to
be applied.

64 Studio 0.9.0 'Toe Rag' release notes
64 Studio is developing a collection of native free software for digital
content creation on x86_64 hardware (that's AMD's 64-bit CPUs and
Intel's EM64T chips). It's based on the pure 64 port of Debian
GNU/Linux, but with a specialised package selection and lots of other
customisations.
You can now download a 709MB DVD-R image for version 0.9.0 beta. This
will install Debian testing with X.org 7.0, the Gnome 2.14 desktop,
Linux kernel 2.6.17 with real-time pre-emption patches and a selection
of creative applications, covering audio and music, 2D and 3D graphics,
and publishing for the web and print. It also includes the internet and
office tools that a creative user is likely to need for their daily work.
Main download site:

US mirror:

The 709MB .iso image can be burned to DVD-R using the Nautilus DVD
burner in earlier alpha releases of 64 Studio (right click on the image
file after downloading it).

Bug reports and suggestions are very welcome - please post them to the
64studio-devel mailing list:

Known serious bugs in this release:
* The snd_seq module is not loaded automatically
(this causes errors with MIDI applications until the module is loaded
manually)
* Gnome-cups-add printer applet does not work properly
* After install, Synaptic will produce an error message until apt-get
update is run
Enjoy!
