Ron Coulter (SIUC, percussion, composition, computer music)
Mark Engebretson (UNCG, composition, computer music, saxophone), and
Matthew Burtner (UVA, composition, computer music, saxophone)
The evening event will be split into:

Funds raised at this event will benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Roanoke, VA, a non-profit organization that offers critical afterschool programs for children. Apart from L2Ork numbers, the 8pm program will also offer compositions involving innovative creative technologies, including musical robots.
The admission to both events is free.

hi everybody!
the Linux Audio Conference 2010 (hosted this year by the Hogeschool voor
de Kunsten, Utrecht) will have live streaming coverage of all the paper
presentations and selected workshops, just like in the old days. the

least two other relays, which will be announced as they come online.
for remote participants, there is an IRC channel called #lac2010 on
irc.freenode.net, which serves as a backchannel for your questions and
comments, hangout for conference chatter, and helpdesk for any streaming
troubles you might encounter.
spread the word, and join the fun. LAC 2010 takes place from may 1st to
may 4th. test streams will be made available a few days in advance. the
IRC channel is already open.
the official lac site is at http://lac.linuxaudio.org/2010/.

Yet another beta version of MMA is up and ready to test.
1.5e has a number of bug fixes (most important is that program changes
are now done at the right file position), some meta track command
enhancements and a new lyric karaoke mode.
Please bang on it. Make it break. Pull your hair out when it doesn't
work ... and let me know if you get stuck or have suggestions.
Oh, and have fun making music!
Get it at: http://mellowood.ca/mma/downloads.html#developer
MMA is a accompaniment generator -- it creates midi tracks
for a soloist to perform with. User supplied files contain
pattern selections, chords, and MMA directives. For full details

In search of open-source software for musical and intermedia creation
For its third edition, Lomus 2010 invites music and audio open-source software creators to submit original projects that either directly or indirectly contribute to musical creation.
In regard to one of the 2 themes for JIM's edition : "The musical work and heterogeneity : the problem of mixity", the LoMus contest will particularly encourage sonic/musical softwares integrating or hibridizing with other media. Though, this theme is not restrictive.
A prize will be awarded to open-source sofware that prove to be not only innovatory but also inventive in the present context of music and audio creation.
