The first unified LV2 release, LV2 1.0.0, is out.
This release merges the previous lv2core package with all the official
extension packages, as well as example plugins, lv2specgen, and
additional data. From a developer point of view, the biggest change is
that all LV2 API headers can be used by simply checking for the single
pkg-config package "lv2" (for compatibility the previous "lv2core"
package is still installed). Implementations are encouraged to abandon
the "copy paste headers" practice and depend on this package instead.
With this release, several new extensions have become stable that
together greatly increase the power of LV2: atom, log, parameters,
patch, port-groups, port-props, resize-port, state, time, worker.

Hi,
QMidiArp 0.5.2 has just seen the light of the day. It brings mainly
two improvements. One is a comeback, that of tempo changes on the fly,
and that now includes also tempo changes of a potential Jack Transport
master. Also the Jack Transport starting position is finally taken into
account, so that QMidiArp should be in sync also when starting the
transport master not at zero.
The second one is Non Session Manager support, mainly thanks to the work done by Roy Vegard Ovesen!
Note that for compiling in NSM support you will now need liblo as dependency.
Enjoy, and enjoy LAC in Graz this year
Frank

New Features
o Tempo changes are again possible while running, both manually or by
a Jack Transport Master
o Jack Transport position is now taken into account when starting,
QMidiArp used to start always at zero
o Muting and sequencer parameter changes can be deferred to pattern
end using a new toolbutton
o Modules in the Global Storage window have mute/defer buttons
o Global Storage location switches can be set to affect only the pattern
o Non Session Manager support with "switch" capability (thanks to
Roy Vegard Ovesen)
General Changes
o NSM support requires liblo development headers (liblo-dev package)

With great pleasure I am pleased to announce DISIS spring event of 2014.
As part of the ICAT Day, VT Institute for Creativity, Arts and Technology
(ICAT) and School of Performing Arts' Digital Interactive Sound and
Intermedia Studio (DISIS) presents its Spring Showcase, a part of the
"Digital iD" performance series featuring an evening of multisensory
performances that fit no preexisting form or template. The event will
feature the Kandinsky Trio and guest artist Chris McCormick, Virginia Tech
faculty artists Ivica Ico Bukvic, Lee Heuermann, Eric Lyon, and Charles
Nichols, Virginia Tech's Linux Laptop Orchestra (L2Ork), and students
engaged in the DISIS and Cinema curricula. Also on the concert is a
performance of Terry Riley's "In C," played telematically between musicians
at Virginia Tech and Stanford University. Using JackTrip software, the two
schools will stream audio across the continent, allowing the distributed
musicians to perform together in real time. "Digital iD" offers an
exploration of synergies among music, technology, arts, gesture,
collaboration, interactivity, and ultimately community. The event is free
and open to the public.

We're very proud to announce the immediate availability of DrumGizmo
version 0.9.5!
This release features a completely overhauled drum kit editor and the
complete implementation of floating velocity groups with new drum
kits. Keep in mind that no kits using the new format exist at the time
of release. Loading a current kit will use the old fixed velocity
groups as usual. We will create new versions of our kits as quickly as
possible.
The most prominent features included in this release are:
- Multichannel support implemented and enabled
- Complete drum kit editor overhaul
- Now uses floating velocity groups
- Autodetection of hits is now realtime and completely redesigned
- Play through detected samples in sequence at the push of a button
- New volume fader
- Plus the usual pile of bug fixes and optimizations
Download it from http://www.drumgizmo.org
Visit us at the official irc channel at the Freenode network. Channel
name is #DrumGizmo. We would love to hear from you.

I'm attending the Linux Audio Conference for the first time this year,
which is going to be awesome. I decided to reincarnate the Friday Interview
by doing a short interview series with people who are or have been involved
with the LAC throughout the years, as a way of getting to know the
conference better.
I'll try and publish as many interviews as possible before LAC. Check it
out at: http://www.zthmusic.com/lac14-interview-series/

*SEAMUS Electroacoustic Miniatures 2014: Transients*
The SEAMUS Electroacoustic Miniatures Series is an annual album release of
fixed-media works addressing a specific theme which has been devised by the
adjudication committee. The albums will be made commercially available via
all major online music distributors as well as the SEAMUS website.
Works on short time scales, such as the miniature or the poem, often afford
a paradoxical potency and clarity. Or they can permit flashes of whimsy,
fancy, and oddity. This year's theme, "Transients," invites consideration
of the momentary and the succinct, but also the transitory, the ephemeral,
and the evanescent.
All SEAMUS members are eligible and invited to submit one fixed-media
composition (recordings of live performance pieces are not accepted), up to
three minutes in length, to be considered for inclusion. There is no
application fee. All submissions must be complete works (no
works-in-progress) and must be received by *June 15, 2014. *Composers are
responsible for all clearances and licensing required for materials they
use in their submissions; SEAMUS will not pay for sample licenses of
copyrighted materials. Please include brief program notes.
The adjudication committee will evaluate each submission based on the
following criteria:
- Adherence to the theme
- Creative and coherent exploration of thematic possibilities
- Musicality
- Technical quality
Submission procedures:
- Fill out all the fields in the official application
form<https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1NyuuGF5dCBpdqITuwTG1tUMFPPfPR8vypod04bynMX…>(
goo.gl/8K9j42)
- Your submission must be a wav or aif file, with a 44.1K sample rate and
16 bit resolution
- Your submission file must be titled with only the title of the composition
- Upload the file to Dropbox or another similar file hosting service
- Post the link to the file in the appropriate field on the form
- Any submissions containing identifying information in the file name or
link will be disqualified
Questions regarding the submission process may be directed to Keith
Kirchoff at keithkirchoff(a)gmail.com
