On behalf of the entire Rivendell development team, I'm pleased to announce the availability of Rivendell v2.9.0. Rivendell is a full-featured radio automation system targeted for use in professional broadcast environments. It is available under the GNU General Public License. From the NEWS file: *** snip snip *** Changes: Cart Notes Display. 'Cart Notes' information can now be displayed in the 'Edit Events' dialog in RDAirPlay. RDLogManger Command Line Enhancements. A '-P' switch has been added to prevent existing logs from being overwritten by batched jobs. Report Enhancements. Added a 'Classical Music' as-played report, as well as the ability to filter all reports on the basis of daypart range. New Scheduler Code Support. Added an '--add-scheduler-code=' switch to rdimport(1) and the ability to specify a set of scheduler codes to be added to new carts on a per-dropbox basis in RDAdmin->ManageHosts->Dropboxes. RDLibrary Cart Status Highlighting. Carts whose dayparting indicates a start time in the future are now highlighted in cyan rather than red. New RML. An 'Append Log' ['AL'] RML has been added. Full Disc Ripper Enhancements. The Full Disc Ripper ('Rip Disk' in RDLibrary) has undergone a major overhaul, now allowing for multi-track rips to a single cut and streamlined assignments of selected tracks to new carts. Various bug fixes. See the ChangeLog for details. Database Update: This version of Rivendell uses database schema version 239, and will automatically upgrade any earlier versions. To see the current schema version prior to upgrade, see RDAdmin->SystemInfo. [LAA] Aqualung 1.0-rc1 released today

Aqualung is an advanced music player for GNU/Linux (also running on other UNIX-alikes). It plays audio CDs, internet radio streams and podcasts as well as regular soundfiles in just about any audio format and has the feature of inserting absolutely no gaps between adjacent tracks. Aqualung R-1300 has been released today as 1.0-rc1, as the first milestone in an anticipated (short) series of release candidates leading to the final 1.0 release of Aqualung. With this release, we celebrate 10 years of Aqualung! This release contains changes from the last 2 years and 4 months -- and, as you may imagine, has been long long overdue. It would not have been possible to make it to this point without the work of core devs Jamie Heilman, Jeremy Evans and Peter Szilagyi, as well as numerous contributors who sent us patches, bugreports, translations and encouragement. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you. [LAA] Yoshimi V 1.2.1 released

Tarball on sourceforge. There are a number of small tweaks under the bonnet, mostly to aid compilation. There are new drum sounds from Dario Straulino, and an alternative SVG desktop icon from Andrew Ter-Grigoryan (sorry it too so long). The most significant (although quite small) change is in settings - the option to enable a part when doing a MIDI program change. This means you can start up a 'bare' yoshimi, and, provided your banks are well organised, load whatever patches to whatever part you like, from any bank entirely from a sequencer, or suitably capable hardware synth/controller. Bank changes are always silent, and program changes are if you only change a part that is not actually sounding at that time. -- Will J Godfrey http://www.musically.me.uk Say you have a poem and I have a tune. It fixes several bugs, but provides no new functionality. Some of the fixes include: UTF-8 Character Handling. Improved handling of multi-byte UTF-8 characters, especially in the RLM subsystem. More robust MPEG-1 import support (contributed by Chris Smowden). See the ChangeLog for additional details. Database Update: This version of Rivendell uses database schema version 234, and will automatically upgrade any earlier versions. [LAA] ANN: 2014 Spring DISIS event

Apologies for cross-posting... With great pleasure I am pleased to announce DISIS spring event of 2014. As part of the ICAT Day, VT Institute for Creativity, Arts and Technology (ICAT) and School of Performing Arts' Digital Interactive Sound and Intermedia Studio (DISIS) presents its Spring Showcase, a part of the "Digital iD" performance series featuring an evening of multisensory performances that fit no preexisting form or template. The event will feature the Kandinsky Trio and guest artist Chris McCormick, Virginia Tech faculty artists Ivica Ico Bukvic, Lee Heuermann, Eric Lyon, and Charles Nichols, Virginia Tech's Linux Laptop Orchestra (L2Ork), and students engaged in the DISIS and Cinema curricula. Also on the concert is a performance of Terry Riley's "In C," played telematically between musicians at Virginia Tech and Stanford University. Using JackTrip software, the two schools will stream audio across the continent, allowing the distributed musicians to perform together in real time. "Digital iD" offers an exploration of synergies among music, technology, arts, gesture, collaboration, interactivity, and ultimately community. The event is free and open to the public. [LAA] Qtractor 0.6.1 & Vee One Suite 0.4.2 - A pre-LAC beta release frenzy!

Howdy! As a pre-LAC release frenzy, Qtractor 0.6.1 (bitsy sweet beta) is out! the change-log for this release are mainly fixes: - New user preference option added as View/Options.../Display/Transport/Hold auto-scrolling (follow play-head) on edits (after requests by Holger Marzen and Louigi Verona, thanks). - All color chooser dialogs were missing proper titles. - Audio peak file re-generation and clean-up has been hopefully fixed and cache optimized (re. drawing audio clip waveforms). - Fixed initial session snap-per-beat setting on main toolbar. - Clip/Export...'ed files are now made persistent, no questions asked (after a ticket by Oliver Kester, thanks). - Portuguese (pt) translation added (by Esteban Viveros, thanks). The Vee One Suite of old-school also gets an interesting update. changes for the third proto-beta release are: - Badly named 'Noise' wave-shape oscillators get their band-limited treat option and re-labeled as 'Rand' (synthv1 only); also a brand new wave-shape 'Noise' is then introduced (now for real :)). - New user preference option, cf. Help/Use native dialogs. - An anti-denormal regression applied to the Phaser fx stage (affecting early proto-beta >= 0.4.0). all still available in dual form, as usual: - a pure stand-alone JACK client with JACK-session, NSM (Non Session management) and both JACK MIDI and ALSA MIDI input support; - a LV2 instrument plugin. After a long hiatus, a new release of Patchage is finally out (just in time for LAC2014). This version uses a new canvas library, Ganv, and includes many fixes and other improvements. [LAA] DrumGizmo 0.9.5 released [LAC2014 release]

We're very proud to announce the immediate availability of DrumGizmo version 0.9.5! This release features a completely overhauled drum kit editor and the complete implementation of floating velocity groups with new drum kits. Keep in mind that no kits using the new format exist at the time of release. Loading a current kit will use the old fixed velocity groups as usual. We will create new versions of our kits as quickly as possible.
