Hey guys!
Having moved to Linux I noticed a problem with holding keys. If I am using
JACK-keyboard or even tried this with a Windows sequencer through WINE,
holding a key results in triggering the note many-many times instead of just
playing it continuously, sustained. There seems to be no problem on Windows
with this. Is it a platform specific thing? Can this be somehow realized? I
would love to just press a key, hold it and have the note sustained.

Yeah, I mean qwerty keyboard, I apologize for not making it clear. I have an
ASUS laptop.
All qwerty keyboard grabbing software I tried on Linux has this behaviour
for me - jack keyboard,
lmms, VK.
Zyn Virtual Keyboard however (just checked) works as intended. JACK Keyboard
however is not.

You mean keys on the 'querty' keyboard?

Strange, I can't reproduce this. Tried with vkeybd and kmidimon, and with
jack-keyboard, the jack 'seq' alsa midi driver, and kmidimon. Both generate
only 1 note-on and 1 note-off when I hold a key for a while.

No, it isn't. There's something wrong for your install. I tested it with
Virtual Keyboard playing Calf Organ by JACK MIDI. I used the mouse and
the "qwerty" keyboard and both were ok. The notes were hold and not
triggered again and again. It deosn't matter if I played single notes or
two notes in unison.

I apologize for the silly question. I really did think it was like a
difficult thing to solved. In Ubuntu went to keyboard preferences and
switched it off.
I really am sorry for polluting the list with such a question ;)
But I am glad it got resolved so quickly and easily.

No, you don't need to disable 'Key presses repeat when key is held
down'. It's enabled on my Ubuntu. I don't know were the values are
saved, so I only can refer to the GUI. The value for 'delay' is within
the 2/4 from the right and the value for 'speed' is at the border
between the 1/4 and the 2/4 from the right. So delay is 'short' and
speed is 'slow', but 'lond' and 'fast'.

It seems, that Jack Keyboard handle clicks instead key presses/releases. I also have this
problem, but only with Jack Keyboard. VMPK and vkeybd work well.
Jack Keyboard has also grab mode, but I could not enable it due to error:
"jack-keyboard: XKeysymToKeycode failed. Please report this to the author."
