Hi,
I am using Debian Linux 3.0 (Woody) with 2.4.20-Kernel! Now I tried to
compile
the Alsa-Driver 0.9rc7:
./configure --with-cards=ice1712, usb-audio --with-sequencer=yes
--with-kernel=/usr/src/linux-2.4.20
make
make install
After install the following error occurs If I try : depmod -a:
depmod: *** Unresolved symbols in
/lib/modules/2.4.20/kernel/sound/isa/gus/snd-gus-synth.o
depmod: *** Unresolved symbols in
/lib/modules/2.4.20/kernel/sound/isa/sb/snd-emu8000-synth.o
depmod: *** Unresolved symbols in
/lib/modules/2.4.20/kernel/sound/pci/emu10k1/snd-emu10k1-synth.o
depmod: *** Unresolved symbols in
/lib/modules/2.4.20/kernel/sound/pci/trident/snd-trident-synth.o
depmod: *** Unresolved symbols in
/lib/modules/2.4.20/kernel/sound/synth/emux/snd-emux-synth.o
Anyone knows how to solve the problem ?
Regards,
Thomas
Hey,
I'm diving into cvs for the first time, so please excuse my ignorance.
I'm trying to compile ardour, but after running autogen.sh, I get an
error saying that I don't have autopoint correctly installed. I tried
apt-getting autopoint, but it doesn't seem to exist. I googled for it,
and came up with nil. The only reference to it is that it has some
connection with gettext. However, gettext is correctly installed
(I even uninstalled it and reinstalled) yet I still come up empty
handed.
Does anyone have a clue of why this is happening or where I can
get a hold of autopoint?
Thanks in advance,
Linux Rob
Hello -
I am experiencing xruns and audio glitches on a new
machine running PlanetCCRMA/Redhat8 with an RME
hammerfall card and have recently discovered the
problem: the motherboard chipset is unsupported by
kernel 2.4.x and needs kernel greater than 2.5.12 fort
DMA I/O can be enabled.
Does anyone on this list have an audio ready
(low-lat/preemtive enabled) kernel rpm greater than
2.5.12?
Kevin

Hi all,
Some fixes and extra bits for the midi stuff; makes things much more
responsive.
* icon and .desktop get installed properly
* much more graceful handling of jackd shutdowns
* midi thread will now try and use SCHED_FIFO. If you run jackd with
jackstart (or as root, but you don't want to do that :) then you
don't need to do anything to enable this as jackd will give the
appropriate rights to jack rack.

I'm not always patient but I could help there too. If Dominic has a USB
Quattro already, maybe we should do a quick survey of what other devices are
available/needed for testing. I was thinking of getting a PCI MAudio card for
this.
I'm cross-posting to the Linux Audio User list, because I'm sure there are
some people on there who would like to give Audacity with multi-channel input
a go.

Hello,
Is there an editor available which could understand the Yamaha style files ?
They seem to be some sort of MIDI files with some bits flipped here and there
to mark the sections.
Timidity can play them sequentially but Rosegarden barfs.
What else should I try ? (I couldn't find anything specific)
TIA
Cheers,

Alexander,
thanks for the link, I will certainly give it a try. It hurts to say so, but
I miss the audio restoration features built in Cool Edit Pro for M$ Windows
since I migrated 100% to linux; those tools were, IMO, as powerful as easy
to use. If you know of any tool out there which is similar to that, let me
know (gwc doesn't seem to work very well...).
Thanks!
Sergi

<I've just figured out that there is a sound restoration plugin on
<LAOE (http://www.oli4.ch/laoe/). Its description is in the

Hey, all. I thought of something today that I think would be of good use
to many folks.
I was wondering, is there a mailing list somewhere for people to talk to
and educate each other on such things as music production, software use,
micing technique, best drum kits, or anything in between?
If not, how useful do you think this would be to those of you on this
mailing list? I was also thinking it would be a good place to announce new
recordings of songs.
If enough people would like this, I have my domain on a new server with
mailing list software that's actually worth something, and I would be
willing to start and host it. Since this is just a mailing list, and those
are generally fairly low-maintenance, this would not foreshadow any of my
work on the Open Music Resource Library (such as it is right now).
Thoughts and opinions?

Hallo,
I have a M-Audio Audiophile card (snd-ice1712) in my box, and for
month I cannot get alsaplayer to work with it in ALSA-mode. I
currently use
$ alsaplayer --version
alsaplayer 0.99.70
from the unstable Debian package.
But it didn't work with any prior version. Actually I like alsaplayer,
because it runs very stable without dropouts, but in my case it
doesn't deserve its name. This is the error I keep getting when
starting alsaplayer ("-d default", "-d hw:0" all give the same):
$ alsaplayer

Yeah, "trying OSS", you wimp! ;)
Has anyone with an Audiophile alsaplayer working?

Hello,
I am currently using alsa 0.9rc7 with oss emulation, oss sequencer, virmidi
and ens1371. I have a ens1371 soundcard. I would like to create my own
soundfonts using smurf and play them with iiwusynth. Does anyone have some
insight into the best way to proceed with this process (workflow, devices etc
etc). I am a little overwhelmed by the amount of options there are for doing
this.
Thanks!
