Hi all,
Mandrake released Mandrake 10.2 Beta 2, and one of the new features is:
" New ALSA sound architecture with source mixing".
Does anyone know anything about this? Does this mean built-in dmix
configuration, or is it a different mixing method?
Announcement can be found here:

Regards,
Hillel.

Hi!
Wanted to test the DSP-parts of ld10k1 (0.1.6) against my sblive, but
I'm not very successful. When trying to start ld10k1 I only get:
Error: unable to peek code
Error: error in main loop
Using alsa 1.0.5, Mandrake, Thac's 2.4.21 lowlatency-kernel.
I understand people have managed to get this up and running. Before
upgrading alsa (to be able to use ld10k1 > 0.1.6) what versions of alsa
and ld10k1 are you using?

Are there any Bay Area members of this list that would be interested in another luncheon-type meeting? I know several of us met a few months ago; I'd be interested in hosting, and I live in the city of Richmond.

You have the card, you can play with it.
Try to look at snd-emu10k1 driver. Try to use same way as Audigy 2
Value card uses (there are only few places where code is diffrent from
Audigy 2 ZS).
Are there any error messages in dmesg (something AC97 releated) ??
I think Audigy 2 ZS Notebook doesn't have AC97 (try dissable AC97
mixer creation).

The chip used in it has same PCI ID as Audigy 2 Value - this is why
2.6.10 recognized it (support for audigy 2 value was added only recently).
But Audigy 2 ZS notebook needs probably some diffrent initialization
and is not supported by ALSA (and probably for long time will be not
supported - maybe never).

Hi friends,
I just received a soundblaster audigy2 zs notebook pcmcia and I tried to make it
work with different kernel 2.4 multimedia, 2.6.10 multimedia &
non-multimedia...etc mainly mandrake 10.1 & demudi ... and nada! I can't use
it... alsaconf & draksound don't reconize it... and on 2.6.10 it crashed
straight when I put it.
Did someone have experienced this soundcard?
I look over the net and it seems reconized by alsa... but I can't figured out
the way to make it work...
thanks a lot for your help
best
Julien
Hey List,
Another post on usb soundcards on ppc with a 2.6.10 kernel:
I still can't access to hw:1 (16bit LE) so i am forced to use plughw:1 to make the endian-conversion. Now I managed to have plughw:1 more stable by removing 2 experimental usb options in the kernel (bandwith allocation and ...). It is still not completely stable but using these settings the audio card is finally usable with jack and pd.
48000 Hz, 1024 frames, 3 periods, 2 in 6 out, and non-realtime
If anyone knows of more elegant solutions i'd be very happy to
hear of it :)
Is there any chance in the near future to have a compete hw support for usb audio cards on ppc linux?
kind regards,
Marloes
